Clickbait title, I know. A lot of people really seem to like Lincoln, and while I am up for different opinions... I can’t really seem to find a reason to like him anymore than his sisters.
My main issue is that, well, he’s not exactly a character and more of a plot device. Let me explain: Lincoln acts selfless in some episodes and selfish in the others. Okay, fine. But because those two personalities over shine each other depending on the episode, it’s hard to define him as either one of those traits.
At least with someone like Lynn or Leni, it is clear as daylight with which side they fall under. And for others like Lori and Luan, they fall into the “in-between” scale and it ultimately makes them well-rounded characters. So unless Lincoln has a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing going on, he ultimately ends up as someone who acts a certain way because “the plot said so”.
So in my eyes, Lincoln is paper thin. He just exists because he’s the main character. And not a good one at that. People seem to relish on either his selfless and selfish characteristics and I know why: because Lincoln sure does love doing the same thing.
This isn’t a hate post on Lincoln (I dislike him, not hate him). It’s just me stating my more critical opinions on Lincoln. I would admit, there are some traits about him that I do admire, like him following a “golden rule” mindset and him being a quick planner. But that’s kinda it.
And that’s it. Have a nice day.
