Chandler McCann (temporarily)[1] - news reporter, then weather reporter, then host of "Bro in the No" before being fired
History[]
While the Action News Team did not get its name until "Kernel of Truth", its members have assembled over the course of the series. Lincoln and Clyde have been friends since their early childhood, and Lincoln has known classmates Zach and Liam since "Overnight Success" while first meeting Rusty in "Hand-Me-Downer" (albeit in an antagonistic relationship). The five have become best friends by "Dance, Dance Resolution", and they eventually add transfer student Stella in their friend group[2] after Lincoln befriends her.[3]
In "Kernel of Truth", the six discover Royal Woods Middle School used to have a news show, one that included Zach's mother. With Clyde having had experience as the morning news host of Royal Woods Elementary School, they decide to reboot the news show, despite Principal Ramirez warning them that the previous news show ended due to lack of interest. Indeed, their first episode is a disaster, so Principal Ramirez gives them 24 hours to come up with a story that will hook people. They decide to focus on investigating why the popcorn hasn't been restocked, eventually finding it to have been hoarded by Meryl in a secret arcade room to watch her soap operas. The group instead reveals the arcade room on the news, making Ramirez allow them to keep the news show. However, she did end up threatening to shut it down once afterwards as a result of a false accusation.[4]
In "Broadcast Blues", the team's equipment became unstable to the point where they could no longer use it to record their show. Chandler managed to provide them with new equipment that he bought with money he earned from selling objects from the sewage plant in exchange for a position on the show. However, his jerky actions led to him being fired, along with taking back all of the new equipment. Since then, the Action News Team was forced to use only their phones to record the news until Katherine Mulligan offered to donate some equipment from her news room to them in "Scoop Snoop".
As of November 16, 2025, twenty episodes focus on the group as a whole.[note 1] If counting episodes prior to Stella's introduction, then the list also includes "Back Out There" and "Pasture Bedtime".
