"Animal House" is the thirty-fifth episode (thirty-sixth in production order) of the fifth season, and the two-hundred-thirty-fourth episode of The Loud House.
Lana struggles to find homes for the exotic pets at the Royal Woods Animal Shelter, before they're moved out.
Synopsis[]
At the Royal Woods Pet Adoption Center, Lana is playing cards with a penguin named Willy. As they play, Sam arrives with three stray dogs she found, and Lana has Larry, a llama, show them where they're staying. As Larry shows the dogs where they'll be staying, Sam tells Lana that the adoption center is starting to become overcrowded, and that she found a place where the exotic animals (Willy the penguin, Larry the llama, and Squirt the flying squirrel) can stay called the Exotic Pet Playground. However, it's revealed to be in Ohio, much to Lana's dismay. Sam insists that moving the exotic animals there is a good thing, as they need to be in an environment that they can thrive in, but Lana argues that they're her friends, and is afraid of not being able to visit them. Suddenly, Lana gets the idea of having the animals stay at her house, but Rita and Lynn Sr. disagree, saying that the house is already crowded with enough pets. As Lana begins to question what to do, Hops gives her the idea that, if she can't have the animals stay at her house, she can have others take care of them, so that way, she can still see them.
Going around town, Lana asks Mr. Grouse, Liam, and the McBrides if they want to take care of Willy, Larry and Squirt respectively, and they agree when she promises to come in and solve any problem they encounter. When nighttime comes, Lana is prepared to have dinner, but then, Mr. Grouse appears by the window beside her to show her that Willy is taking a bath in his kitchen sink, creating a mess and running his water bill. Lana quickly fixes the problem by bathing Willy outside. The moment she's done, Liam calls to tell her that Virginia and Larry got into a fight involving a sweater, where she quickly gets there to fix the problem. Before long, the task of taking care of the animals begins to take a toll on Lana's sleep, as she wakes up at 3:00 AM to tiredly travels across town and take care of the three animals. Arriving home completely sleep-deprived, Lana remarks that hanging out with the animals was much easier when they were in one place. At Hops' suggestion, Lana decides to go against her parents by letting them stay at the Loud House without their knowledge.
Sometime later, Lana sneaks Willy, Larry and Squirt into the house, and lets them stay in the attic. Later, Lana is prepared to hang out with them, when suddenly, she discovers that the three animals are not there. She quickly races around the house to prevent them from being seen Rita and Lynn Sr., causing some very close calls, up to the point that she had to make up numerous excuses as to why she's in their room in an attempt to catch Squirt. After taking the animals back to the attic, Lana realizes how miserable they are having to stay in the attic, and admits that they deserve to be somewhere they can live freely. Suddenly, the animals bring out the Exotic Pet Playground pamphlet Sam gave her earlier, and Lana realizes that Sam was right about the place being perfect for them.
Later, Sam is at the Loud House with a van heading straight for the Exotic Pet Playground, and Lana offers gifts for her friends before they leave, like a hat for Squirt to sleep in, a spray bottle with a fan for Willy, and one of Lola's sashes for Larry to munch on. Admiring Lana for letting her friends go, Sam reveals that she had contacted the Exotic Pet Playground to come up with a way for her to stay in contact. Later, it's revealed that Lana is capable of contacting her friends via video chat, so that way, they can see each other.
