As of late, I've been thinking that the amount of content regarding fanon is getting out of hand so to say. It's likely that you don't agree with me, but I can't help but feel like this doesn't even feel like a proper main space wiki. It's honestly distracting; the amount of fanon that goes on the wiki versus canon. It can really give the wrong idea about what kind of wiki we are, and decrease our credibility. Just about every single blog made has something to do with fan content, and it feels like 90% of the recent activity is made up of fanon.
I like that we allow fanon in a way. It does help keep the wiki active. It just seems like fanon is being taken too far for a wiki that is made for canon purposes. I don't know if I would want to get rid of it from the wiki, but I personally would like some kind of limitation on fanon besides the "blog only rule" we currently have. I just have no idea how to limit fanon being uploaded to the wiki effectively and consistently. By being uploaded, I am also referring to the amount of images that are uploaded to the wiki. It just kind of bothers me that we seem to have more fanart than canon images. I don't know how big of a problem that is (if it is a problem at all), it's just something I personally find to be annoying. Seriously, the amount of images that are fan made and added to the wiki is crazy. I've deleted about 100 of those images found in the Special:Unusedimages (along with all the 400 other images that were added to the wiki when it wasn't necessary).
Most of the images that are uploaded to the wiki can be alternatively added by adding the image address (for an example of how using an image address works) for a picture rather than uploading it to the wiki. Or you could do what I do by linking it like this example to keep the image off the wiki.
This is just a discussion at the moment. This isn't meant to get rid of fanon from the wiki, I'd just like to know how others view fanon on the wiki.
