Synopsis[]

S8E11[]

Act I[]

The Planet Protection Patrol.

The Planet Protection Patrol.

It's Halloween night in Royal Woods, and Lincoln is prepared to head out and meet his friends, who are all dressed as the characters of an old sci-fi movie they've become obsessed with named Planet Protection Patrol. Just before he leaves, Lucy arrives and tells her brother to come out so he can test out their haunted house, which has the parents and the older sisters as the house's jump-scares. Despite all the elaborate planning they put together, Lincoln is unfazed throughout the entire experience, as he comments that he's already seen everything that's been done before. At that moment, Lynn and the remaining younger sisters arrive back home after trick-or-treating, and Lincoln exits to meet up with his friends. As Lincoln and his friends play up to their characters' roles (with Zach revealing that he has a bag full of legit alien-fighting equipment), the sisters comment that their costumes will make them an easy target for bullies, but Lincoln dismisses their claims, and they proceed to ride away on bikes.

Soon enough, Lincoln and his friends proceed to go from door to door and get lots of candy. Suddenly, the group is ambushed by two figures wearing hockey masks, who quickly reveal themselves as Chandler and Trent. At that moment, Chandler finds one of the devices on the ground, which Zach claims is a cosmic communicator. Despite Zach warning him not to activate it, Chandler proceeds to do so while simultaneously mocking their costumes. Eventually, Chandler gives the device back, and they leave. Afterwards, the group proceeds to head over to Cheryl and Meryl's condo, but unbeknownst to them, a large shadow looms in from behind them.

Arriving to the Chateau Royal Condos, the gang approaches Cheryl and Meryl's door, but when they knock, the door opens itself. After calling out their names with no response, the group enters the apartment to find their TV playing static, their dinners (an unusual yellow, slimy substance) are still warm, and the bowl of candy is left unattended. Despite the unusual nature of this situation, the group proceeds to not think too much about it and prepare to go to Flip's.

Back at the Loud House, the sisters discover Darcy arriving, dressed as a pirate. Thinking she'll be easily scared due to her young age, everyone quickly gets themselves into position. Upon ringing the doorbell, Darcy is let in, and the Louds attempt to scare her, but Darcy is more amused by everyone's costumes and practical effects, and in the end, she's more happy than scared. Because of the dismal results, Lucy proclaims that this might be their worst Halloween ever.

Act II[]

At Flip's Food and Fuel, Flip and Nacho (dressed as a hot dog) are digging up their stash of candy in order to give away. After Flip lets Nacho leave to go trick-or-treating, the store lights suddenly begin to flicker, and Flip is attacked by an unseen assailant.

Later, the gang arrives to the Food and Fuel, where they discover that Flip is missing. After picking their pieces of candy (which they quickly spit out due to their old age), the gang begins to suspect that something fishy is going on when they discover the situation is the same as what they witnessed at Cheryl and Meryl's. Suddenly, Rusty slips on a mysterious yellow slime (which appears to be the same as what was seen at the condos), but before the group can ponder what exactly it is, Lincoln discovers that it's nearly 8:00 PM, and he needs to get back home by then, but says that they might have enough time to hit one more house.

As the gang rides off to their next destination, they suddenly encounter Trent, who informs them that Chandler has gone missing after he left to take a whiz in a bush. At this point, the gang comes to realize that something is happening, as people are disappearing one by one, on top of the streets being unusually barren. After a quick false alarm from Mrs. Bernardo, the gang discovers Trent's hockey mask and boots (the latter of which is mysteriously smoking), and when Zach picks up the boots, the same yellow slime is stuck beneath them. Fearing for the worst, Zach performs a quick test to see if the substance contains alien DNA, and his hypothesis is proven correct when it changes from yellow to purple. Now knowing that there are aliens in their midst, Lincoln, after getting a call from Rita to come back home, tells his family that there are aliens in Royal Woods. Suddenly, the doorbell rings, and Rita and Lynn Sr. answer it (with Leni taking their picture). Suddenly, the visitor lets out a snarl, and it immediately attacks the Louds.

Frantically racing home, Lincoln enters his house, only to discover nobody present. Stella discovers Leni's photo on the floor, and it develops to reveal what is to be feared: a giant, yellow alien with three eyes pointing a blaster at the Louds. Realizing his family has been abducted by the aliens, Lincoln screams in anguish.

Act III[]

Racing over to the police station, the gang frantically tries to tell the police that there are aliens in Royal Woods and need their help in stopping them so they can rescue the people they abducted. Officer Schoffner, seeing the gang in their Planet Protection Patrol costumes, agrees to help, being a fan of the movie as well, but it quickly becomes apparent that Schoffner thinks that they're playing pretend. Seeing how the police are of no help, Lincoln deduces that the only ones who can stop the aliens are themselves. Suddenly, a meteor comes hurling towards the Earth and crashes into the nearby woods, prompting the gang to investigate.

Arriving to the impact site, Zach equips his friends with blasters with the intent of immobilizing the alien. Suddenly, a figure rises from the crater, and it is quickly revealed to be a half-naked Flip. After snapping out of his dazed state, Flip tells the gang that about his encounter with the alien, explaining that, after he got zapped by its blaster, he was teleported to its ship and placed in a giant tube, where he saw the other victims like the Louds, Cheryl and Meryl, and Chandler and Trent. When asked how he managed to escape, Flip states that the aliens rejected him, as his body wasn't suitable for their experiments. Realizing the danger the victims are in, the gang states that they need to stop the alien, and Flip makes a point to mention that it's looking for one more human to abduct before it leaves. Seeing the streetlights flickering nearby (meaning that the alien is nearby), the gang heads off to stop it.

Arriving to Franklin Avenue, the gang discovers the alien at Mr. Grouse's house, ready to abduct the cantankerous old man. After prepping themselves with trash can lids for shields and setting their blasters to "immobilize", the gang gets into a shootout with the alien, who begins to fire back with its own blasters. After a prolonged fight, Liam manages to pin the alien down, and Lincoln successfully immobilizes it. However, while Zach is reverse engineering the alien's blaster, some of the alien's slime, not immobilized, crawls up onto Stella and uses her blaster to reverse its immobilization. Now free, the alien prepares to attack Clyde, who doesn't have a shield to defend himself. Lincoln quickly tosses him his shield, and seeing how Lincoln is now defenseless, the alien proceeds to aim its blaster at him. Lincoln boldly sacrifices himself to save his friends and lets himself get zapped, where he disappears in an instant, and before his friends could fight back, the alien zaps itself back to its ship, where is rises from the woods and zooms off into space. Seeing that their friend is gone, the gang believes they have failed and are not the heroes they claim to be, when suddenly, Zach realizes that he has an idea on how to save everyone and tells them to follow him.

Act IV[]

Arriving to the Gurdle house, Zach reveals that his parents have built a teleportation device out a photo booth. As Rusty cranks the machine's handle to power it up, Zach quickly enters the coordinates of the alien ship, and upon locking it in, he pulls the switch that will teleport them to it. The plan is successful, as the gang is teleported into a bathroom with a toilet for five butts. Upon opening the door, the gang discovers that they're in the main control room, where their presence is immediately discovered by a group of aliens. After fighting them off and immobilizing them, the gang exits the room and into an elevator.

The spaceship begins falling out of the sky.

The spaceship begins falling out of the sky.

Arriving to the top floor of the ship, the gang discovers all of the aliens' victims trapped in capsules. Lincoln tells them that the only way to free them is by pulling a red lever nearby. However, the lever is locked in a glass case, and the gang struggles to break it open. Liam eventually manages to break the case open by pitching one of Flip's rock-hard candies at it. Upon pulling the lever, the captors are freed, and just as they start to thank the gang for freeing them, an alarm starts blaring and the ship suddenly sputters to a stop. Lisa realizes that they were being used as batteries to power the ship, and because they were freed, the ship is now on the verge of crashing. Lincoln tells them that, because of their knowledge of Planet Protection Patrol, they have enough knowledge to know how to land the ship. Realizing he's right, Lincoln's friends immediately begin preparations to land the ship.

Act V[]

Later, in the control room, the gang is hard at work controlling the ship. Rusty is keeping the aliens immobilized and zapping any stray slime chunks that try to intervene. On Zach's cue, the ship enters a steep free fall towards Earth. After steering through an asteroid field (but still falling incredibly fast), Lincoln orders Stella to pull the lever that activates the ship's landing gear. Stella asks for Liam's help, but some of the sap from Liam's costume seeps into the lever's circuitry, shorting it out. With no way to activate the landing gear in time, Lucy tells them that she has an idea: they should land the ship in the spider web on their front yard, since it's made of tarantula silk, which is, according to her, "one of the strongest materials in the world." With no other choice, Lincoln orders Clyde to set the coordinates for the Loud House, and Clyde does as commanded. With the coordinates set, Lincoln tells everyone to brace themselves, descending dangerously close to people's roofs, before landing safely in the web, which successfully brings the ship to a halt.

Having saved the day, everyone thanks the gang for saving their lives. At that moment, the aliens' immobilization wears off, and they attempt to tell everyone something. When told that they can't understand their language, the aliens activate their translators, allowing them to speak perfect English. The aliens ask the gang to forgive them for their hostile actions, explaining that they were flying through space when their ship ran out of fuel. While this was happening, they reveal that they had received a transmission from Earth, while also revealing that humans make the perfect batteries to power their ship. Chandler immediately pins the blame on the gang, saying that it was their technology that brought them here. Unfortunately for Chandler, the aliens reveal that it was him who brought them in the first place by replaying the transmission they received, which clearly has his voice, earning him the ire of everyone else. After Chandler leaves, refusing to take accountability for his actions (only to get stuck to the web), the aliens tell the gang that, because they were defeated, they willingly surrender themselves to get vaporized, only for them to be forgiven, stating that it's better to forgive and forget. After Lisa offers to create a human-free alternative fuel to power their ship, Lucy asks them for a favor.

Sometime later, Darcy arrives back to the Loud House, ready to go through their haunted house again. Much like last time, Darcy is enamored by everyone's costumes and tricks, but near the end, it is revealed that the aliens have become part of the attraction, and their threatening appearances successfully scare Darcy, making everyone celebrate that their haunted house is actually scary. Later, as the kids hang out in front of the house, the aliens tell the gang that they love the idea of Halloween and state that they want to bring it back to their planet. At that moment, Schoffner arrives, wanting to catch up with the gang, only to trip and fall into one of the aliens, making her compliment the "costume's" realism.

  • This episode marks Officer Schoffner's first appearance since her debut in the Season 3 episode "Rita Her Rights".
  • As acknowledged by Lucy, this is the first time Lynn Sr. actively participates in the Halloween festivities, given his fear of the holiday in past episodes. The only reason he's participating in this Halloween is because the costume he's wearing allows him to have Rita by his side the whole time.
  • Liam brings up the events of "Cow Pie Kid" by bringing back his incredible pitching skills.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Mr. and Mrs. Gurdle are not fans of Halloween, as they think it's all a big conspiracy created by big candy corporations.
    • According to Lincoln, Halloween is the only time of year where Flip willingly gives things away for free.
    • Flip keeps a stash of candy from World War II that he gives away to trick-or-treaters. The candy is so old, they are as hard as rocks.
    • According to Flip, his body is comprised of 85% nacho cheese.
      • This is most likely a callback to the Season 5 episode "Blinded by Science", where his anatomy was revealed to be mostly comprised of food.
    • Mr. and Mrs. Gurdle have built a teleportation device out of a photo booth. However, they haven't perfected using it, as Zach explains that his parents tried to use it to teleport to Saturn, only to end up in the Burpin' Burger bathroom.
  • Irony:
    • Lincoln and his friends attempted to stop the alien from abducting its last victim, only for Lincoln to willingly sacrifice himself and be its last victim to save his friends.
    • Initially, Flip's candy wasn't seen as worth keeping due to their old age and being inedible, but they ended up being the only thing hard enough to break open the glass case protecting the lever that can open the victims' capsules.
    • The aliens having translators would have helped them explain why they came to Earth in the first place.
    • Chandler attempted to pin the blame on Lincoln and his friends for attracting the aliens by saying that it was their communicators, only for the aliens to reveal that it was him who contacted them in the first place.
  • Cartoon physics:
    • One of Lisa's Ions manage to flash, despite is being a costume.
    • After taking a bite of the old candy and losing a tooth, Stella manages to simply push it back in her gums.
    • When Chandler tries to leave the spaceship, he walks and stops, standing in thin air for a quick second before falling into a spider web, when he should be tripping and falling into it.

  • Halley's Comet - Lincoln mentions a scene from Planet Protection Patrol involving the characters being forced to land on Kaley's Comet, a parody of this iconic comet that is visible on Earth every 72-80 years.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - Planet Protection Patrol is likely a reference to this Marvel franchise, as they both contain a human who acts as the leader, a male alien, a female alien, and a sentient tree.
  • Leonard McCoy - Liam saying, "I'm a doctor, not a..." is a reference to main catchphrase of this character from Star Trek.
  • Thelonious Monk - The name of Clyde's character, Dr. Thelonious Mucus, is most likely a parody of this late jazz pianist and composer.

Errors[]

  • Despite both Cheryl and Meryl speaking in the episode (albeit one line each), only Meryl was credited while Cheryl was not.
  • When Lincoln orders Clyde to set the ship's coordinates to his house, he erroneously states the address as 1216 Frankin Street instead of Franklin Avenue.
  • Chandler's dialogue in the aliens' recording is different than when he initially spoke into the communicator.
