"Community Disservice" is the twenty-eighth episode of the fourth season, and the one-hundred-seventy-seventh episode of The Loud House.

Plot

Lola takes a timid new classmate under her wing and gives her a social butterfly transformation.

Synopsis

Lola is preparing herself for the upcoming Little Miss Sunbeam pageant, when suddenly, Lincoln interrupts her, saying that she has a phone call from the pageant. Lola picks up the call and is told that her application to participate has been denied. It turns out that Lola needs to have at least 10 hours of community service in order to be accepted into the pageant. Just when Lola bemoans on how to clock in 10 hours of community service by Saturday, Lincoln suggests that she be a new student buddy, and Lola accepts Lincoln's idea.

S4E15B Welcome to Royal Woods Elementary

Lola welcoming a new student, Meli Ramos.

At school, Lola informs Cheryl that she would like to volunteer to be a guide for a new student. Cheryl then introduces Lola to the new student, Meli Ramos, a quiet, timid introvert in gray clothing who first noticed Lola on the playground and thought she would be perfect to help her fit in and be more confident. Seeing her plight, Lola agrees to help her become more confident. Throughout the day, Lola tells her some advice on how to stand out more, which includes...

  • Making a flashy entrance when entering the classroom.
  • Sitting with students much older than them (specifically the fourth graders) by making joking remarks with no context.
  • Creating a game to play during recess.
  • Giving her a more vibrant appearance with colorful clothes to contrast her usual gray clothing.

Feeling that Meli is now a changed person, Lola declares that her work is done.

The next day, the first graders are on a field trip to Dairyland, but Lola has to skip out due to attending the Little Miss Sunbeam pageant. As Rita drops Lana off, Meli expresses her gratitude of Lola coming along to accompany her, but Lola states that she'll be attending a pageant and can't come along. As Meli becomes worried, Lola tells her that she simply has to follow the advice she was told, and leaves post haste.

As Lola participates in the pageant, she receives overwhelming praise from the audience and the judges with her elegant ribbon dance. As she takes a breather backstage, Rita is sent a photo containing the first graders having fun at Dairyland, but Lola discovers that Meli is missing. As Lola shows off her sunbeam gown, she suddenly has visions of Meli having a horrible time at Dairyland. After regaining her composure, Lola quickly retreats backstage and asks Rita if she can make a call. Lola calls up Lana, and asks how Meli is doing. Lana states that Meli has been hiding in the bathroom the entire time, and Lola, knowing this is all her fault, hangs up and announces to everyone that she's forfeiting the pageant.

S4E15B Meli gives Lola a cheese crown

Meli gives Lola a crown as a token of their friendship.

After being driven to Dairyland, Lola quickly enters the bathroom and finding a crying Meli hiding in one of the stalls. Lola apologizes for her attitude, saying that the advice mostly works on her and not on other people. After explaining that she forfeited the pageant, Lola tells Meli that she intends to spend her day having fun with Meli. Throughout the day, Meli ends up having a fun time with Lola and after winning a milk squirting game, Meli gives Lola her prize: a crown made of cheese (only for Lana to eat half of it).

Trivia

  • This is the first (and so far, only) episode directed by Jordan Rosato.
  • According to Lola, she can't stand using her inner voice for too long.
  • If one is quick to notice after Lola does her ribbon dance, the left judge drew a "1" over the "0" on her scorecard to make her "10" an "11".
  • This is the first episode to reveal the students of Lana and Lola's first grade class.

References

  • Community Disservice - The title of this episode is a pun of community service, which is unpaid work, intended to be of social use, that an offender is required to do instead of going to prison. Community service can also be voluntary unpaid work.
