Episode Information

"Cut the Chisme" is the twenty-fourth episode of the third season, and the ninety-ninth episode of The Casagrandes.

Plot[]

The family tries to stop their notorious chismoso Hector from gossiping all over town but can he stay quiet?

Synopsis[]

While hanging out in the mercado, Hector spreads some gossip to the customers. He reveals to Vito, Bruno and Bobby that Rosa snores loudly in her sleep (resulting in Rosa refusing to make him dinner), Miranda has toe fungus (right in front of her new boyfriend, no less), and Nelson has trouble pooping, respectively. That night, Hector encounters his upset family, who tell him that, because of his gossipy actions, he needs to stop, since he's hurting the feelings of those he talked about and embarrassing his family. Knowing he didn't mean to hurt their feelings, Hector proclaims that he'll stop with the gossiping.

The next day, as Hector cleans, the kids check to see how he's doing. Suddenly, Margarita shows up, and this is bad news to Hector, since she has the best gossip. Hector attempts to not listen to her by plugging his ears with carrots, only for him to realize that he can read people's lips. Bobby quickly blindfolds him, and just before Miranda can reveal her bit of gossip, the kids shove him into the freezer until she leaves. Unfortunately, Margarita comes back and reveals to him that Bruno has two bellybuttons. Tempted by this gossip, Hector tries to reveal it to someone, but the kids stop him at every attempt, with Sergio assisting by spraying Hector with water for every attempt. By the end of the day, as Hector closes the store, he's happy that he got through the whole day without gossiping, only to end up gossiping anyway by saying the secret while leaning his elbow over the button that turns on the intercom. Because of this, Bruno's feelings are hurt, and Ronnie Anne says that if they want Hector to stop gossiping, they need an expert.

Later, at Greta’s Magic, Ronnie Anne asks Greta if she can hypnotize Hector to stop his gossiping, and she agrees, but warns them that it can't be undone. Upon spinning her hypnosis wheel, Greta hypnotizes Hector by telling him that he'll get very itchy if he attempts to gossip. To see if the hypnosis works, Bobby tells Hector some gossip, and when he tries to reveal it, he becomes itchy and is unable to say it.

Back at the mercado, Hector is at the counter when he hears Miranda crying as her boyfriend leaves her. Hector tries to tell Bobby what happened to Miranda, but becomes itchy due to the hypnosis. Miranda walks in, and when Bobby asks how things are going with her boyfriend, she reveals that they broke up and angrily chews him out for reminding her. Bobby asks Hector why he didn't warn him, but remembers the reason why. Later, Hector is sweeping outside when Par pulls up in his van and accidentally backs the van into a parked car, prompting Par into cleaning the mark with a banana peel and drive off. Upon seeing Ronnie Anne skateboarding down the sidewalk, Hector wants to tell her what Par did, but he starts to get itchy, then suddenly, Ronnie Anne slips on the banana peel and crashes into some trash cans. When Ronnie Anne asks Hector why he didn't warn her about the peel, Rosa arrives and tells Hector that she bought a sleeping mask to help with her snoring. Later that night, the kids are woken up by some loud snoring, so they decide to investigate. Entering the living room, they see what they think is a cyborg approaching them and start to attack it. Suddenly, the kids realize that they attacked Rosa, who is wearing her new sleeping mask. When Rosa asks the kids if they were ever told by Hector that she got a new mask to help with her snoring, the kids ultimately realize that Hector's gossip is a good after all, because of how informative it can be. Unfortunately, they can't undo the hypnosis, as Greta had warned them that it can't be undone, but Carl has an idea.

The next day, Hector enters the apartment and encounters his family, who are waiting for him. Hector tells them he's been good, but Rosa tells him they need him gossip once more. Upon being sat down by Carlota, the family begins to gossip about themselves, causing Hector's head to grow in size from the temptation. Eventually, after being told enough secrets, Hector eagerly reveals to all of Great Lakes City the gossip he was told, making Hector realize that the hypnosis has been broken, much to his and the rest of the family's excitement. Later, in the mercado, as Hector reveals to Vito and Bruno what he learned, Vito reveals some gossip of his own: some chump's family had to hypnotize them so that they wouldn't gossip anymore. Knowing he's the chump Vito is referring to, Hector scolds him for gossiping, and Sergio arrives to spray him with water.

  • Irony:
    • The Casagrandes thought Hector not being able to gossip would make their lives better, but it had the opposite effect of making their lives worse, since his gossip can be informative.
    • Bobby told Hector a secret to see if the latter would get itchy when trying to gossip, only to blurt out the secret himself seconds after.
