Episode Information

"How Double Dare You!" is the forty-seventh episode of the fourth season, and the one-hundred-ninety-sixth episode of The Loud House.

Plot[]

The siblings turn to Lisa's genius to help them land a spot on Double Dare.

Synopsis[]

At the Loud House, the kids are watching Double Dare with Marc Summers, and Marc announces to his watchers that Double Dare is coming to Royal Woods. Excited by this announcement, the kids beg Lisa to help them land a spot on the show, wanting slime to get dumped on them. Lisa initially declines, but when she sees that one of the choices for the grand prize is a Galactic Labs space capsule, she immediately changes her mind. Lisa deduces that she must run tests on her siblings in order to deduce who is most qualifiable to participate.

The first test Lisa has the siblings do is to answer questions while staying calm under pressure. She does this by having them stand on a tall platform above a pool of water. Lisa also has a robot named DareBot to help her with her tests. The siblings disqualified during this test are Lori, Luna, Lynn, Lucy, Lola and Lily. The second test involves Lincoln, Leni, Luan and Lana having to find a flag hidden in the couch. Luan is disqualified after insulting Lisa, Lana is disqualified for eating during the test, and Lincoln and Leni are beaten by Geo finding the flag. The final test has Lincoln and Leni needing to catch Charles, who is coated with a lubricant that makes him slippery, and results in a tie between them. As Lisa runs the numbers, she discovers how much knowledge she implemented into DareBot and announces that the one who can guarantee victory is DareBot, much to everyone's frustration.

The next day, Lisa and DareBot are on the set of Double Dare as the red team. Suddenly, she discovers that her opponents on the blue team are Lincoln and Leni, and the siblings are cheering for them. With both teams present, Marc Summers starts the show. He has the teams play ring toss with antlers to determine who gets control of the first round, and Lisa ends up winning. Lisa answers the first question correctly and gets 400 points. Her second question involves sports, and considering her low knowledge of sports (as well as DareBot, since Lisa didn't program any knowledge of sports), she proceeds to dare Lincoln and Leni. When the two realize this is an advantage, they decide to double dare them back, and Lisa goes for the challenge. She and DareBot are tasked with using hammer hats to break a dozen eggs on a vibrating table. During this challenge, some of the eggs land in DareBot's circuitry, causing him to slightly go haywire. While trying to fix up her machine, Lisa is told that time ran out, and because she didn't meet the quota, 200 points go to Lincoln and Leni, much to her dismay. When Leni answers the last question correctly (much to Lisa's surprise), both teams end up in a tie, so Marc declares that in order to determine a winner, they need to go through the obstacle course.

With the obstacle course set up, Marc explains that whoever gets the most flags will win. As the two teams compete, they end up neck and neck with each finding a flag (on one instance, getting half a flag). The final flag is on top of a hill of slime which requires ropes to climb. As Lincoln, Leni and Lisa climb, Lincoln loses his footing and falls, motivating Leni to give it her all and succeeds in obtaining the flag, making her and Lincoln the winners.

Everyone gets slimed!

With the show over, Lisa congratulates Lincoln and Leni for winning and apologizes for doubting them. Marc then arrives and tells the two to pick their grand prize. They settle on the space capsule Lisa wanted, where they state that they only joined the show so that Lincoln can meet Marc and Leni wanting to improve her image for preteens. After the three engage in a hug, Marc proceeds to dump slime onto the Loud kids, much to their glee.

This didn’t make the title card, but I still really like the sketch.

Not to spoil anything, but Darin @Asylum_26 has a good episode coming up and there’s some good jokes.
Jul 18, 2020[1]
  • According to Ashley Kliment-Baker, the original drawing she made for the title card was supposed to be a slime-covered Lincoln holding a microphone and question card.
  • This episode premiered on Carlos Alazraqui's 58th birthday.
  • This is the last episode directed by Darin McGowan.
  • According to Lincoln, Lynn Sr.'s middle initial is L.
  • Leni reveals that she wants to be a preteen influencer.
  • The order the siblings were eliminated in Lisa's pre-Double Dare competition are as followed:
    • 1. Lynn (disqualified for jumping into the dunk tank before the game even started.)
    • 2. Luna (disqualified for not knowing her father’s initial in his middle name.)
    • 3. Lucy (disqualified for not naming the 12th letter of the alphabet.)
    • 4. Lori (disqualified for not knowing the Roman numeral for 50.)
    • 5. Lily (disqualified for not knowing the mass of Jupiter.)
    • 6. Lola (got bored and quit.)
    • 7. Luan (disqualified for Mr. Coconuts insulting Lisa.)
    • 8. Lana (disqualified for eating old pizza in the couch and disgusting Lisa.)
      • Lincoln and Leni were the only siblings not to be eliminated in the competition, but seen competing with Lisa in the game show.
  • Irony:
    • The questions asked to Lucy ("What is the twelfth letter of the alphabet?") and Lori ("What is the Roman numeral for 50?") both have the same answer as the question Lincoln correctly answered ("What is our father's middle initial?").
    • In "Linc or Swim", it's revealed that Lola doesn't like getting her "swim gown" wet. But here, she jumps into the water (with her swim gown on) and doesn't complain.
    • If Lisa knew that DareBot was the perfect partner, then she didn't need to make her siblings go through the tests.

International edits[]

  • The scene where Lori falls into the pool is cut on MBC3 airings.

References[]

  • How Double Dare You! - The title of this episode is a play on the phrase "how dare you."
  • Double Dare - The episode's plot is based around this Nickelodeon game show.
  • Hulk - When DareBot and Lisa took the physical challenge by smashing eggs, DareBot says "DareBot smash!", a reference to this superhero's iconic catchphrase "Hulk smash!"
  • One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish - The Double Dare round that involved throwing rings onto antlers is similar to the game "Ring the Gack", which is played with a creature that has antlers in this book by Dr. Seuss.
  • Helga G. Pataki - When Lisa got frustrated with Darebot she said “Criminy” which is Helga's catchphrase when she's frustrated.

Errors[]

  • The exclamation point on the title card is shown in the font used for the creator credits.
  • When Luna is about fall into the pool, her right paperclip earring is missing.
  • When the Loud kids found out about Double Dare coming to Royal Woods, Lola is missing the back of her hair.
  • During Lucy's line, "But there are only two players on each team", Luna's hand can be seen on the couch arm rest, despite Luna collapsing on the floor a moment ago.
  • Lynn wears different swimsuits before and after jumping into the pool.
  • When Lucy is falling to the pool, Lincoln has only one eye pupil.
  • When Mr. Coconuts is insulting Lisa, Lana is between Lincoln and Leni. Then when DareBot is chasing Luan, Lincoln and Lana switched places. A moment later, they're back in their original positions.
  • At the start of the obstacle course, Leni doesn't have her goggles. Then after Lincoln and Leni found the first flag, Leni is wearing her goggles.
  • During the obstacle course, the lenses on Lincoln's and Lisa's goggles keep disappearing and reappearing.
  • When Lisa asks Luna what their dad's middle initial is, Luna is missing the bottom part of her hair.
Green diaper and sash

Lola's sash and Lily's diaper green before the slime hits them.

  • Right before the Loud kids got slimed, Lola's sash and Lily's diaper are green.
  • Plot Holes:
    • Geo didn't take part in Lisa's second test, so he technically did not defeat Lincoln, Leni, and Lana.
    • Lisa should have been disqualified from the start for having a robot partner.
  • In the scene where Lisa was explaining the rules for the physical challenge test, Leni's left foot is disconnected.
