"Fluff and Foiled" is the nineteenth episode of the seventh season, and the three-hundred-fourteenth episode of The Loud House.

Plot[]

To make it to "Udder Madness Day" at Dairyland, Lincoln is determined to get laundry duty finished as fast as possible.

Synopsis[]

S7E10B Twelve separate wash and dry cycles

Lincoln is stuck with laundry duty.

Lincoln tells the viewers that today is "Udder Madness Day" at Dairyland. He explains that every year on this day, Dairyland gives out special prizes to anyone who can ride ten of their wildest rides in a single day, and reveals that this year's prize is a Tippy-themed hat. However, before he can leave to join up with Clyde, he encounters his parents, who tell him that he has laundry duty today. Lincoln attempts to ask his sisters to cover for him, but is stopped by Lisa, who tells him that, after having the sisters cover for him for the past five instances, he has to do the laundry now. Soon enough, all eleven members of the family bring Lincoln their loads of laundry, while also giving him specific instructions for each of their loads. Wanting to get to Dairyland sooner, Lincoln decides to wash all twelve loads at once, but this only succeeds in breaking the washing machine. Lincoln calls up Clyde to ask if he can borrow his dads' washing machine, but Clyde tells him that they're currently washing vintage rugs that require an uninterrupted 12-hour-long cycle. This prompts Lincoln to take his laundry to the laundromat and asks for Clyde's help.

Arriving to the laundromat, Lincoln and Clyde believe that they'll be done in no time. Unfortunately, it happens to be senior day at the laundromat today, and every single machine is being used. Clyde attempts to save an available machine he found, but he gets attacked by the seniors, who tell him that saving a machine is against the rules. Lincoln manages to find an available machine, but Scoots happens to spot it as well, and after a brief chase, Scoots ends up taking it. As the two boys sit on a bench in defeat, they see on the TV a commercial for Dairyland promoting their "Udder Madness Day". Suddenly, Lincoln gets an idea.

S7E10B Lincoln trips and falls in the fountain

All the laundry falls into the cheese fountain.

Arriving to Dairyland, Lincoln explains that the park is the "world's largest washing machine", as they can wash the clothes and ride the rides at the same time. After getting three tickets (with the extra ticket being for the laundry, which they shaped into a person), the two first ride on the log ride, where they use the splash at the bottom of the flume to get the soap-covered laundry all sudsy. Afterwards, the two begin to ride on the giant swing in order to dry the clothes. At first, the speed they're going at isn't drying the clothes fast enough, so Lincoln asks the ride operator to make them go faster. At first, the plan succeeds, but clothes start to fly off. Lincoln tells the operator to slow down, but the operator mishears him and thinks that they want to go faster, so he does just that. The ride eventually spins so fast, the two end up losing all the laundry as it is launched in all directions across the park. Despite this, Lincoln and Clyde proclaim that, as long as they work together, they'll get all the clothes back in no time. After spending their day obtaining the clothes either by winning them or making trades with people, they succeed in getting the laundry back, but as the two head to their next ride, Lincoln blindly walks towards a cheese fountain, causing all the clean clothes to become covered with cheese. Realizing he's back to square one, Lincoln laments that he should've just done the laundry the right way, and decides to head home and fix his mess, telling Clyde to go on without him.

Back at the Loud House, Lincoln, after digging up the washing machine's instruction manual, gets to work on repairing the machine, to which he does, and then proceeds to wash each load of laundry the right way. That night, as Lincoln snoozes on the stacks of clean clothes, Clyde arrives and congratulates his friend for completing his task. After Lincoln congratulates Clyde for winning the hat, Clyde reveals that he actually won two hats; he reveals that Lincoln dropped his ticket at the park, and offered to ride each ride twice so that he could get it stamped in order to win the hat for him. Because of this, Lincoln thanks Clyde for this act of friendship.

Cast[]

Leni, Luna, Flip, and Seymour have no lines in this episode. Howard and Harold are mentioned by Lincoln and have no words in this episode.

Trivia[]

  • This episode and its sister are the lowest-viewed episode of 2023.
  • This episode shares the same title card music as "Hurl, Interrupted" and "Force of Habits".
  • Excluding the Casagrande story arc episodes, this episode's title card is the first to feature differently-sized text.
  • Lincoln's voice is noticeably deeper from this episode until "One in a Million". This is due to Bentley Griffin hitting puberty.
    • This also marks the second time one of Lincoln's voice actors continued to voice him beyond puberty. First voice actor to do so was Grant Palmer.
  • The premise of this episode is similar to that of the Really Loud House episode "The Chore Thing", as both involve Lincoln seeking to abandon his chores by rushing them or intentionally doing them badly in favor of attending an event that he planned for the day.
  • Clothing articles depicted in the laundry pile on the title card:
    • Three of Leni's dresses and her sunglasses
    • Luna's shirt and two of her skirts
      • Her belt is also depicted in the left box that shows the credits.
    • Luan's skirt and flower
    • Two of Lynn's jerseys and her shorts
    • Lucy's shirt, two of her dresses, both of her arm sleeves, and one of her socks
    • Lana's hat
    • Two of Lola's gowns
    • Two of Lisa's pairs of pants
    • Lynn Sr.'s shirt and sweater
      • Lincoln, Lily, and Rita are the only Louds (besides Lori, who is at college) to not have one of their articles of clothing depicted in the laundry pile.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Lana keeps a booger collection in Lincoln's room against his will.
      • This is the second time she has hidden something in his room without warning him beforehand, after the time she hid her turtle, Snappy's eggs in his underwear drawer in the Really Loud House episode "No Louds Allowed".
    • The sisters and parents tend to eavesdrop on Lincoln from the opposite side of his bedroom door.
    • Dairyland has a special event called "Udder Madness Day", where a special prize is given to anyone who can ride 10 of their wildest rides in a single day. So far, the prizes include a Tippy bobblehead, an udder backpack that actually squirts, and a light-up Tippy cheese curd bucket.
    • Lincoln is responsible for laundry duty, having previously been responsible for taking out the trash in "Chore and Peace". Prior to this episode, he chickened out of laundry duty five times, all of which did not end as well as he had hoped.
      • Since he was also depicted on laundry duty in "A Crime to Dye For", it is likely that he is fulfilling Lori's former niche, as she was responsible for laundry duty prior to leaving for college.
    • Todd wears jean shorts when he goes to the beach, despite being a robot.
    • It is forbidden to hold up the washing machines at the laundromat.
  • Lisa advises Lincoln to use baking soda to remove the uranium from her radioactive laundry. In real life, baking soda can be used to protect rats from uranium-induced acute nephrotoxicity through a uranium decorporation process that alkalinizes their excretory systems.
  • Nickelodeon CEE skipped this episode due to the mention of Clyde's fathers. However, some clips from the episode were shown in a promo.
  • Innuendo:
    • When Lincoln questions if the blood on Lucy's laundry is fake, Lucy gives a very ambiguous answer.
    • Lisa presents her laundry covered in uranium to Lincoln, which causes him to become concerned about whether or not he should wear a hazmat suit while handling it.
    • Flip and Nacho are wearing Lucy and Lola's dresses respectively, and when Lincoln and Clyde buy them back, they stare in astonishment at Flip, who is now showing off his underwear.
  • Despite the fact the episode was banned at Southeast Asia, the entirety of the episode is played on two seperate long clips played between shows.

References[]

  • Fluff and Foiled - The title of this episode is a pun of "fluff and fold", which describes the standard/conventional service at a laundromat.

Errors[]

  • Plot hole: Lynn asks Lincoln to wash her lucky uniform, despite the fact that she keeps it dirty for good luck.[1]
    • A similar error also occurred in "Rita Her Rights", where she addressed this issue before Rita.
  • Lisa refers to baking soda as the street name for "sodium hydrogen carbonate" when the chemical's name is actually "sodium bicarbonate".
  • When Lisa presents her pile of laundry to Lincoln, a basket with Luna's clothes inside is visible on his bed, despite the fact that she stood behind Lisa in line; the pile of clothes in the basket should be Luan's clothes, as she stood in front of Lisa and conversely has none of her clothes depicted in Lincoln's room.
  • Clyde mentions that pre-Victorian washing machines are difficult to find. In real life, the first washing machine was invented in 1851, and the Victorian era began in 1837. Likewise, the first domestic washing machine was created in 1937, a full century after the start of the Victorian era.
  • Lincoln says "mozzarella mess" even though all the cheese is orange, and not white like mozzarella.
