Trivia[]

  • This was the last episode to premiere before it was announced that the series had ended.
  • This episode was written by Tyler Mar and Derek Isa, who have previously worked on the series as a writers' assistant and a showrunner's assistant, respectively.
    • Furthermore, this is also the only episode to be written by people who are not part of the show's regular writing staff.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Howard and Harold frequently do the "spritz and walk" technique when trying on new cologne.
    • Lincoln does not know what diesel fuel is.
    • Lynn Sr. has never won against Lynn Jr. against anything.
    • Zia's favorite color is purple.
    • Angie's favorite sport is hockey.
    • Clyde's fathers frequently take him to Princess on Ice shows.
    • The Loud family (or at least Lucy) visits Ruth twice a year.
    • Ruth used to work as a dentist, so she advises the kids not to eat candy and frequently sticks her hands into their mouths.
    • Luan does not know that "dihydrogen monoxide" is the chemical name for water.
    • Clyde had an obsession with chandeliers when he was younger.
    • Lincoln owns mint chip-scented deodorant.
    • Lincoln and Clyde have had instances where they got cheeseburgers shoved down their pants, ate egg rolls in Albuquerque, learned about honey mustard in history class, smelled the stinkiest farts they had ever known while inside an elevator before having to call the paramedics, and saw silver jeans.
    • Lincoln is most skilled at geography.
    • Angie is Clyde's first girlfriend.
    • Lincoln and Clyde have watched all nine seasons of Muffin Showdown together.
  • The premise of this episode is similar to that of the Loud House episode "Gown and Out", as both involve a person or group of people realizing that they are at risk of losing at an event they have never lost at before.
    • Coincidentally, both episodes involve the main characters losing the events in question. However, unlike in "Gown and Out", where Lola lost the legitimate way, Lincoln and Clyde lost in this episode because they forfeited; they otherwise would have won.
  • Lincoln denying Clyde's idea to make Lisa hit the botanical gardens with a hurricane is a reference to how the state of Michigan is too far inland to get hit by a true hurricane, although it is possible for a hurricane to hit the state when it becomes a low-pressure remnant.
  • When trying to make Lucy guess "dentist", Lynn uses feminine pronouns when speaking about the dentist, implying that Lucy is only familiar with Barbara as her dentist, rather than Dr. Miller.
  • The points scored by the teams during game night:
    • Lincoln & Zia:
      • Round 1: 0 (Lincoln failed to guess "purple"; Zia failed to guess "chandeliers")
      • Round 2: N/A (Lincoln and Zia moved to different teams)
        • Final score: 0 (Team split)
    • Clyde & Angie:
      • Round 1: 0 (Clyde failed to guess "hockey"; Angie failed to guess "bobcat")
      • Round 2: N/A (Clyde and Angie moved to different teams)
        • Final score: 0 (Team split)
    • Team Lynn (Lynn & Lucy):
      • Round 1: 1 (Lucy failed to guess "dentist"; an extra point was gained off-screen)
      • Round 2: 2 (Lynn correctly guessed "wireless headphones"; an extra point was gained off-screen)
        • Final score: 3 (winner)
    • Team Dad (Lynn Sr. & Rita):
      • Round 1: 0 (Lynn Sr. failed to guess "exercise")
      • Round 2: 2 (Rita was supposed to guess "lawn", but Lynn Sr. cheated by saying "lawnmower"; 2 extra points were gained off-screen)
        • Final score: 2
    • Team Twins (Lana & Lola):
      • Round 1: 1 (Lana correctly guessed "bigger")
      • Round 2: 0 (Lola failed to guess "scale")
        • Final score: 1
    • Luan & Lisa:
      • Round 1: 0 (Luan passed when prompted with "water", then failed to guess "joke")
      • Round 2: 0 (Lisa failed to guess "orange")
        • Final score: 0
    • Clincoln McCloud:
      • Round 1: N/A (Lincoln and Clyde were on separate teams)
      • Round 2: 58 (Lincoln correctly guessed "perfect cartwheel", then "vomit", then "Sunday", then "deodorant", then "slip knot"; Clyde correctly guessed "helicopter", then "chipmunk", then "cheeseburger"; Clyde correctly guessed "Albuquerque"; Lincoln correctly guessed "honey mustard", then "elevator", then "paramedics", then "jeans", then "geography", then "Germany"; 43 extra points were gained off-screen)
        • Final score: 58 (forfeited)
    • Zia & Angie:
      • Round 1: N/A (Zia and Angie were on separate teams)
      • Round 2: 0 (circumstances not explained; the girls left half an hour before the round ended)
        • Final score: 0
  • Lincoln and Clyde appear to have moved on from Stanley Bunch getting fired from Rip Hardcore's show and replaced by Travis, as Clyde is established to still watch the show following the incident in "Get Out of Dodgeball".
  • This episode takes place between October and May, as Angie mentions that it is currently flu season.
  • During the second round, Lincoln and Clyde match "Death on Wheels" to "helicopter", "Bolhofner" to "chipmunk", and "Doberman" to "jeans", referencing the respective events of "The Odyssey", "The Tennessee Surprise: Love Is in the Air", and "Better Together".
  • One of the words to guess was "Albuquerque", the same city where the series is filmed.
  • Clyde knows that Lincoln thinks that the Eiffel Tower is in Germany, rather than France, which is a callback to "Little Sisters' Big Adventure".
  • This is the last episode to be directed by Jonathan Judge.
  • Innuendo:
    • When Lynn swats the diaper out of her father's hand, she says, "Take that crap out of here!"
    • When Lincoln and Clyde brainstorm ways to exit the botanical gardens in style, the last item on their list is "gas lighting". While in-universe it means "gaslighting", a term for driving another person crazy by saying that they are driving them crazy (specifically in the form of them convincing them that the current day is the following day and that they have already gone to the botanical gardens), it could also be interpreted as them setting the botanical gardens on fire with the diesel fuel they used as cologne, which would have overlapped with their "accidental arson" idea.

References[]

  • The Voice - Lincoln mentions that either Zia or Angie has seen every episode of this 2011 reality singing competition series.

Product placement[]

  • WK Kellogg Co - Lana is seen eating the Froot Loops brand of breakfast cereal. (The box is generically labeled "Fruit Cereal" for trademark reasons.)
  • PepsiCo:
    • Rita can be seen pouring the wavy variant of Lay's potato chips into a bowl. (The label is genericized to "Chips" for trademark reasons.)
    • A bag of Rold Gold pretzels can be seen in the kitchen. (The label is genericized to "Pretzels" for trademark reasons.)

Errors[]

  • In the flashback of Lynn Sr. playing hockey with Lynn Jr. in the driveway, Lisa and Lily are depicted on the back of Vanzilla, although they should not have been born yet.
    • Furthermore, the Loud pets are all depicted on the back, implying that the flashback took place when she was at least seven due to the animated series establishing that the pets were around when Luan was eight.
  • Clyde mentions that he is allergic to cats, despite the fact that he owns two cats.
