Episode Information

"Home of the Fave" is the forty-second episode of the third season, and the one-hundred-forty-third episode of The Loud House.

Plot

After a pun-filled trip to the grocery store with Luan and Lola, Dad worries Lola thinks he plays favorites.

Synopsis

Lynn Sr. tells his kids that he's heading off to the grocery store, and asks if any of them want to come along. Luan and Lola decide to go (Luan needs more bananas and eggs for pranks, and Lola needs more macaroni for a necklace). Throughout the entire trip, Luan and Lynn Sr. exchange jokes in a continuous flow, and Lola gets more and more annoyed at the two bonding. When they arrive back home, Lynn Sr. takes note on how agitated Lola looks, and fears that Lola thinks he is playing favorites. When Lynn Sr. explains this story to his wife, Rita assures him that he can resolve things.

Later, as Lola gets to work on her macaroni necklace, Lynn Sr. reveals that he bought two princess dresses, one pink and one light green. Lola, seeing that Lynn Sr. bought her a dress of the color she loves, plus stick-on earrings, hugs her dad in gratitude, and proceeds to spend her whole day with Lynn Sr., partaking in many of her favorite things, while Lynn Sr. goes along to make Lola feel included. After a whole day of spending time together, Lynn arrives, and tells her father that he was supposed to meet her so they can work out together. Seeing Lynn upset, Lynn Sr. begins to fear that he now picks Lola over her. Before long, Lynn Sr. begins spending time with the kids, trying not to make all of them feel left out. Feeling that he satisfied everyone, Lynn Sr. believes that he accomplished his task.

As he makes dinner, Luan arrives and takes note how he's making beef stroganoff, which is her favorite food. Fearing that if he makes stroganoff, everyone will believe that he picks Luan over everyone else, so he proceeds to make everyone's favorite dinner instead, and decides to sit in a corner to avoid sitting next to anybody else. Eventually, Lynn Sr. becomes so stressed out at trying to make the kids feel equal, that he runs out of the house screaming. As Lynn Sr. lays on top Charles' doghouse, the kids ask him what the problem is, and Lynn Sr. says that he was acting strange because he feared that they were assuming that he was playing favorites. However, the kids state that they never believed that he was playing favorites, and explain that the reason they were upset was because of a personal issue. Realizing that his constant worrying was meaningless, Lynn Sr. hugs his kids, knowing that he loves all of them equally.

Trivia

  • This is the second episode where Sammie Crowley and Whitney Wetta don't collaborate with each other when writing an episode. However, this time, Whitney Wetta wrote this episode by herself, as Sammie Crowley wrote her first solo episode with "Tea Tale Heart".
  • Other than the Israeli short "Clyde and His Dads", this episode marks Miguel Puga's directorial debut.
    • This is also the last episode storyboarded by Miguel Puga.
  • Lynn Sr. and Lincoln watch Legends of the Hidden Temple while wearing their Orange Iguanas costumes from "Legends" in this episode.
S03E23A Young Lynn

Young Lynn Sr.

  • This episode reveals that:
    • Lynn Sr. has a brother.
    • Lynn Sr.'s father used to play favorites when he was younger.
    • Lynn Sr. had a knack for cooking when he was young.
    • Lynn Sr. used to say "Ding dang darn it!" back then, which was first said in "Tripped!".
    • Lynn Sr.'s great-great grandfather, the kids' great-great-great grandfather, was named Lynwood.
  • Lynn Sr.'s idea of spending time with Lily was by dressing up as Fenton the Feel-Better Fox from "The Crying Dame". It's also quite strange to see him do this kind of activity, as he and Rita deeply feared Fenton just by the mere mention of its name in the aforementioned episode.
  • One of the episode's storyboards by Miguel Puga reveals three deleted scenes:[1]
    • One showed Leni cutting Lisa's meal with her hand.
    • After Lynn Sr. hugs his kids Lynn's pushes the family and shouts "I call Dibs on the Grub".
    • One where it explains why Rita said to Lynn Sr. why the pony for Lola "didn't work so well". the scene shows a tombstone of Lola's pony along with all the previous Geo's that died.
  • According to Luan, her favorite food is beef stroganoff.
  • Vanzilla has the same appearance as it did in the photograph with Lynn Sr.'s father in "Vantastic Voyage", but the silhouette of his father in his flashback has curly hair rather than the long straight hair he had in the photograph from that episode.
  • This episode was skipped in some countries for unknown reasons.

References

  • Home of the Fave - The title is of this episode is a reference to the 2006 film Home of the Brave. It could also be a reference to the final line of The Star-Spangled Banner.
  • Legends of the Hidden Temple - The game show Lincoln and Lynn Sr. were watching was this Nickelodeon game from the 1990s.
  • Peanuts - The way Lynn Sr. lays back on Charles' doghouse and Walt perching on his nose is similar to how Snoopy and Woodstock do the same.

Errors

  • When Lincoln slips on Luan's banana peel, his freckles are missing.
  • During the dinner scene, Lynn Sr. sits in the corner and is shown to be too far to reach the table. But at some points, he is able to reach the table.
  • Possible: Lynn Sr. is shown to have noticeable hair on his arms and legs when he's wearing a dress when hanging out with Lola. However, when he's wearing a sports uniform when hanging out with Lynn and the orange iguana clothes when hanging out with Lincoln, there is no hair visible on his arms and legs.
  • Possible: Although Luan mentions Lynn Sr. made her favorite meal, beef stroganoff ("You know I can't get anoff of it!"), the dinner scene instead shows what appears to be a burrito at her place at the table, which would support Luan mentioning in her Q&A that her favorite food is Mexican ("I could taco 'bout it all day!").
