For the student of Royal Woods Middle, see Lance (child).

Lance Loud is a recurring character in The Loud House. He is Lynn Sr.'s older brother, son of Leonard and the Loud kids' paternal uncle. He is also the husband of Sharon Loud and father of Shane, Shelby and Shiloh Loud.

Biography[]

Lance is of Scottish heritage.

During his and Lynn Sr.'s childhood, Lance was apparently the favorite child of their father Leonard (or at least Lynn Sr. believes). However, despite their rivalry, the two still got along in their youth as they always enjoyed going out together with their father Leonard every year to get a Christmas tree and always enjoyed seeing Leonard's mishaps with the trees whenever he cut them down. As a child, whenever Lance got upset, he'd visit the Royal Woods football field and vented out his steam by running up and down the bleachers, a habit he would continue in adulthood.

In his adulthood, Lance moved to Petoskey Falls, married a woman named Sharon, and sired three children: Shane, Shelby, and Shiloh. One Christmas Eve night, while the Loud kids were asleep, the Loud adults had a white elephant gift exchange where Lynn Sr. had opened a new spatula however, in spite of this, Lance took the spatula away and claimed it for himself much to Lynn Sr.'s chagrin. After Lynn Sr. accidentally made Lance pop his favorite exercise ball, the two Loud brothers got into a heated argument and vowed to never see each other again for the following Christmases. Lance and Lynn Sr. would eventually set aside their differences five years later to rescue their kids (and Lynn Sr. himself) from drowning into a frozen lake.

Since his reconciliation with Lynn Sr., Lance is on better terms with his brother but still occasionally bickers with him.

Personality[]

Lance is very proud of his muscular build and energetic life. As such, he would mess around with his brother Lynn when they were receiving Christmas gifts, which eventually caused them to avoid seeing each other. However, he is shown to be a caring father and uncle.

Like his father, brother, and eldest niece, Lori, Lance is very emotional and driven to tears easily. He also shares his father and brother's habit of saying "Ding-dang".

Appearance[]

Lance is a large man with a muscular build. He has a pointy long nose like his brother and father and slicked down brown hair. He wears a matching light blue track suit with a white line on the sides and white sneakers.

Like his brother and nephew, he had freckles and curly hair as a child.

In his youth, he sported a hat that bore a strong resemblance to Lana's. Whereas Lana usually wears her hat backwards, Lance wore his forwards.

Trivia[]

  • He is the second relative on Lynn Sr.'s side of the family confirmed to still be alive.
    • He is also the first paternal Loud relative besides Leonard to physically appear.
  • Like his brother and second eldest niece, Leni, he has arachnophobia.
  • Since the events mentioned above, he and Lynn Sr. would fake having injuries every year to avoid seeing each other during the holidays. However, their wives and kids would be able to see through their charade.
  • He is athletic and energetic like his niece, Lynn Jr. and his youngest son, Shiloh.
  • He sometimes picks on his brother much like his niece, Lynn Jr., sometimes picks on his nephew, Lincoln, but like them they do get along.
  • Like his sister-in-law, Rita, he is the only immediate Loud family member whose name doesn't start with the same letter as his spouse and children.
  • Despite being Lynn Sr.'s older brother, he did not get the first David Steele comic from Leonard for his 12th birthday or inherited Vanzilla.
  • Due to Lynn Jr. being named after her father, Lance is the first (and currently the only) character to confuse his brother's and niece's names for each other.
  • Lance and his family are the third multi-racial family to be introduced after the McBride and Yates families.
  • Every year on his birthday, Lance would always be given birthday presents from his father which he never used. One such gift was a spear launcher, which he would eventually uses to rescue Lynn Sr., Lincoln, Lori and Shelby from drowning in a frozen lake.
  • Despite his physique, he is incapable of swimming.[1]
  • Lance Loud was also the name of a real person who starred on the 1973 reality series An American Family.
  • The episode "Bulking and Sulking" reveals that he doesn't know how to unlock a door, instead just tearing it off its hinges.
    • It's also revealed that during his childhood, he'd come to the Royal Woods football field and took laps running up and down the bleachers when he was upset.
  • Like his brother Lynn Sr., he owns his own business.
    • Also like his brother, the name of his business includes his first name.
  • Although Lance is older than Lynn Sr., he has more hair than him. This is likely because of Lance having a more healthy lifestyle and having sired fewer children, therefore not having as much stress as Lynn Sr. does about raising a family.
    • However, this also results in Lance not having as much experience as Lynn Sr. about raising a family.
    • Additionally, despite Lance being older and bigger, he addresses Lynn Sr. as "big guy".[2]
