"McLouds vs Machine" is the tenth episode (eleventh in production order) of the second season of The Really Loud House.

Plot[]

Lincoln and Clyde get a job delivering subs to pay for a movie they want to make only to find that their jobs are in jeopardy because of new delivery robots.

Synopsis[]

Act I[]

Lincoln and Clyde are seen in the dining table, where Lincoln is saying words while Clyde is typing them, which upon finishing it, gave each other the high five. Turns out that Lincoln and Clyde finished their first script for a film they created called "Robot Wars" but since they need cash to produce it (and it's too late to ask their parents), they decided to get jobs.

Cut to one week later, Lincoln and Clyde revealed that they have gotten jobs as delivery boys for Denunzio's Subs, where they get paid in tips, and even get free subs for when they are made from mistake, and with the money they are making, they will have enough to produce the film. However, before they could, Lynn sr. asked if they did their homework and Clyde bribed Mr. Loud with cash, he let them do their film. At that moment, Luan wanted to tell them a joke, only for Lincoln and Clyde to get out of the way, while Lincoln gave her some of his tip. Luan then told her dad a joke, via text and he gave her a LOL, which she is shocked as she didn't see him LOL but rather wrote it.

That night, Rita came home from her job, exhausted as Lynn plans to give her his famous foot rubs. As Lynn is rubbing Rita's left foot (which bones can be heard cracking), Rita pretended to say she enjoy them only for Lynn to continue cracking more of her foot bones.

Trivia[]

  • This is currently the highest-viewed episode of Season 2 and 2024.
  • The sandwich shop Lincoln and Clyde get jobs at, Denunzio's Subs, shares its name with one of Lisa's classmates.
  • Lynn Sr. mentions how the twins regrew their front teeth in "A Musical to Remember".
  • Clyde's constant suggestion to wear an eye patch may be a reference to how One-Eyed Jack wears an eye patch.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Luan's notification ringtone is a clown horn.
    • Lynn's Table has Tortellini Tuesdays.
    • Rita's favorite dish from Lynn's Table is turtle pie.
    • Luna's notification ringtone is a guitar riff.
    • Luan texts jokes to her family so often, they cannot find the time to laugh at all of them.
      • Lynn even admits that she only laughs at about 30% of the jokes.
    • Lynn Sr. has not gone out on the town in twenty years.
    • Clyde is an Aquarius, meaning that he was born between January 20 and February 18.
    • Lola thinks that Lana snores like a polar bear.
    • Luna has written The Secret Favorite Sister Song and shared it with all of her sisters, making them believe that they are all her favorites.
    • Lincoln's shoe size is a women's 5.
    • Lynn Sr. and Rita met each other 25 years prior to this episode.
    • Lynn Sr. has been giving Rita foot massages ever since they started dating. Rita has never liked them, and she always assumed her husband would improve, but he worsened instead.
  • Lincoln tells Gobox that he is an Aries, coinciding with how his birthday check from "Get Out of Dodgeball" presents his birth date as March 26.
  • During the montage of Lincoln and Clyde delivering sandwiches haphazardly, the two boys can be seen using Lana's Candy Cannon Extreme from the film A Really Haunted Loud House.
  • Innuendo:
    • Upon arriving home from work, Rita mentions that she was "in labor with Leni for 38 hours" implying that she was comparing it to when she gave birth to Leni.
    • When Lincoln asks whether or not Lynn Sr. would approve of him and Clyde using eye patches in their movie, he asks, "Is the movie rated 'ARRRGH'?", which is a pun on the R rating assigned by the Motion Picture Association of America. (The "R" stands for "restricted", denoting that a film may only be appropriate for viewers aged 17 and up).
    • When Clyde rushes to the bathroom after facing indigestion from the two undercooked meatballs in his sub, Rita decides to grab a second roll of toilet paper, implying that Clyde was about to have severe diarrhea.
    • Lynn Sr. mentions that he needs to ensure that the twins don't take his turtle pie, prompting them to run in and steal them.
    • One of the jokes that Luan has sent in the past is facetious because it is about hospital food, with the context provided as Ruth having broken her hip. Lola even points out that laughing at it would ridicule the injury.
  • Irony:
    • Lincoln tells Clyde that his character, Abernathy McCoy, will not wear an eye patch. However, when Clyde falls eye-first into the wet cement, which would have warranted him needing the eye patch, Lincoln still denies him the eye patch.
      • In the end, however, he does give Clyde the eye patch for the role.
    • Lincoln and Clyde's advanced delivery methods, while faster than the robots, ultimately got them fired from their jobs because only twelve of the subs they delivered reached their intended destinations.
    • Despite Lincoln and Clyde's movie being about robots, Todd the robot does not appear in the film. Todd himself brings this up during the screening, asking why he didn't read for the film.
  • Foreshadowing: Rita getting new shoes to avoid Lynn Sr.'s foot massages along with her lying about wearing them for a walking club, suggests that she has not liked his foot massages after all.

Dub facts[]

  • In the Portuguese European dub, the entire voice cast was completly changed starting with this episode, with the only actress remaing from the original cast being Paula Pais, who primairly voices Lori.

References[]

  • McLouds vs Machine - The title of this episode is likely a pun of the expression "man vs. machine".
  • John Henry - The premise of this episode is similar to that of this folktale as both involve a human competing against a robot slated to replace them at their job.
  • Looney Tunes - Whenever Gobox humiliates Lincoln and Clyde, it says, "Meep meep", possibly referencing Roadrunner's catchphrase. Their role in the competition against the robot also appears to mirror that of Roadrunner's arch nemesis, Wile E. Coyote.

Product placement[]

Errors[]

  • Possible: In this episode, Lucy's notification ringtone is three short screams, although it was previously one continuous scream in "The Macho Man with the Plan". However, it is likely that she updated it.
  • When the Gobox drives through the wet cement, it does not leave tracks behind.
  • Lana mentions that she used the stench of Lynn's gym socks to knock out Hops for his dental surgery, despite the fact that frogs do not have teeth.
