Episode Information

"Never Friending Story" is the twenty-third episode of the first season of The Casagrandes.

Plot[]

After picking Par as his new best friend, Bobby realizes he may be in over his head.

Synopsis[]

As the family hangs out in the living room, Bobby enters, saying that a new movie came out and seats are selling out quickly. He asks Ronnie Anne if she would like to accompany him, but she says that she has got plans with Sid today. Bobby then asks everyone else if they're free, but they all say they're busy today. This makes Ronnie Anne comment that ever since they moved to the city, Bobby hasn't made a single friend. When Bobby realizes this is the case, Ronnie Anne decides to cancel her plans with Sid so she can help her lonely brother find a friend.

Friend finding time!

First, Bobby attempts to find a friend through one of the apartment tenants, but the personalities of the tenants and/or Bobby's clumsiness prevents him from forming a good bond with them. Second, Bobby tries to form a friendship with a classmate on the train, but his clumsiness quickly shoots down those plans. Lastly, Bobby tries to make Maybelle his friend, but she attacks him after mistaking him for a stalker (and also for ending a mercado sale not long ago).

When Bobby decides on giving up making a friend, he suddenly discovers that he and Par have several things in common like their ability to tell when peaches are ripe, having long distance girlfriends (with names that rhyme), and using the same brand of hair wax. This makes Ronnie Anne tell Bobby that Par is his destined best friend. After sending Par a text (after a phone call gone wrong), Par responds by saying that he's free tomorrow.

The next day, Par and Bobby decide to have a picnic at the Great Lakes City Zoo. As they settle down, Par reveals himself to be a major thrill-seeker. This is made clear when it is revealed that they set up their picnic right in the cheetah den, and when Par says that being chased by it will work up their appetite. Before long, Par begins to show more of his thrill-seeking side as he and Bobby partake in dangerous activities such as rafting on the sewer rats, plunging down a waterfall in a barrel, going through a stunt course on a motorcycle, and relaxing in a Jacuzzi with a baby shark. When Bobby enters his apartment, he expresses to Ronnie Anne how much pain he's going through because of Par's high energy. Ronnie Anne suggests that he tell him that he's not into the things he likes, but Bobby fears that it could mean the end of their friendship. Ronnie Anne assures him that Par is willing to compromise.

Bobby and Par having fun.

Later, as Bobby works in the mercado, Par arrives. Bobby attempts to tell him something, but Par reveals that he has a surprise for him. That surprise turns out to be Par's most thrill-seeking activity: tandem skydiving. Realizing the extreme danger he's in, Bobby detaches himself from Par and firmly tells him that he's not into the stuff he likes, saying that he already has enough thrills just from waking up. Par tells Bobby that he should've told him sooner, saying that he's willing to compromise and says that they can still be friends. However, at that moment, the plane shakes and Bobby falls out, where Par quickly dives for him. After reattaching Bobby to his body, Bobby is ecstatic that he's having fun... only to realize that he and Par are landing right into the cheetah pit at the zoo.
