S6E22A The image scanner brings up different names of Myrtle

Does Myrtle have a shady past?

At the Loud House, the Louds, Pop-Pop and Myrtle are playing The Settlers of Cat-Land. After some time of playing, Pop-Pop requests Myrtle to get him a glass of water from the bathroom. After Myrtle leaves, Pop-Pop reveals to his family that he plans to propose to her, much to the family's excitement. Sometime later, Pop-Pop and Myrtle head back to Sunset Canyon, and not long after they leave, Lincoln gets the idea of doing something for their grandfather's proposal, but Lynn points out that they don't know much of Myrtle's interests. When the siblings realize that they don't know her last name, Lisa decides to use science to find the answers. After putting a photo of Myrtle in an image scanner to find all information on her, the machine reveals that Myrtle has numerous aliases under different names and appearances. Suspicious, the kids decide that they need to find some dirt on Myrtle.

The next day, the kids arrive to Sunset Canyon. While Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn and Lana distract Pop-Pop and Myrtle by asking them how to improve their shuffle-boarding skills, Lincoln, Lucy, Lola, Lisa and Lily proceed to snoop around Myrtle's room to find more information on her. Initially unable to find anything, Lola suddenly activates a hidden switch that opens a secret room behind her closet. Looking around in this secret room, the kids discover boxes filled with disguises, passports, and Lola finds an album depicting Myrtle with numerous husbands. After a close call of nearly being caught by Myrtle, the kids head back home with the album, where Lisa proceeds to scan Myrtle's old wedding photos to learn more about her past husbands. The scanner reveals that all of Myrtle's past husbands are declared missing, making Lucy believe that Myrtle is just like a character from her Vampires of Melancholia book called the Red Tarantula, who marries unsuspecting men and then murders them for their money. Thinking that Myrtle is planning to kill their grandfather, the kids proclaim that they need to stop her.

As the siblings quickly rush over to Sunset Canyon, a van behind them is revealed to be tailgating them, and then proceeds to run them off the road. Thinking it was Myrtle trying to stop them, the kids quickly get Vanzilla back on the road, and after arriving to Sunset Canyon, Bernie reveals that Myrtle took Pop-Pop to Sleeping Bear Dunes, which has numerous steep cliffs. Fearing that Myrtle could make her move at any second, the kids proceed to head there.

Myrtle explains her past to the kids.

Arriving to Sleeping Bear Dunes, the kids call out for their grandfather. Suddenly, Lisa spots Pop-Pop standing atop a huge cliff, and Myrtle ominously approaching him. The kids quickly climb up the steep cliff, but despite making it to the top, they are too late to stop Myrtle, who proceeds to shove Pop-Pop off the cliff and to his doom. When Myrtle greets them in a rather villainous manner, the saddened and furious kids reveal that they know all about her past, like her disguises, passports, and missing husbands. As the kids begin to mourn the loss of their grandfather, they suddenly hear his voice; it turns out that Myrtle pushed him off the cliff so they can partake in some late-night rock climbing, their new favorite hobby. Confused, the kids ask Myrtle why she has numerous disguises and passports. Unable to keep it a secret any longer, Myrtle reveals that she used to be a secret agent; all of her "marriages" were merely cover-ups for her and her partners and reveals that the reason they're declared missing is because they've all gone undercover, and their whereabouts are kept secret for their safety. Realizing they were wrong about Myrtle the whole time, the kids apologize for misjudging her, and Myrtle forgives them, saying that they were only looking out for their grandfather, and also reveals that the reason she brought Pop-Pop here was so she can propose to him. After jumping off the cliff, Pop-Pop and Myrtle propose to each other, and they both say yes, much to the kids' happiness.

The next day, as the kids play around during Pop-Pop and Myrtle's engagement party, Lisa questions Myrtle on why she drove them off the road in her van, only for Myrtle to point out that she doesn't own a van. At that moment, the van from last night arrives, crashes the party and flies into the fountain. The door opens up, revealing Tyler, who proceeds to walk away in a huff. Scoots, sitting in the driver's seat, explains that she's the driver for Tyler's new mobile DJ business, but the bright lights make it hard for her to see where she's going, making Luan remark, "Now it makes sense."

Trivia[]

  • This, its sister episode, "Present Danger"/"Stressed for the Part", "Crashed Course", "A Stella Performance", and "Snow Escape"/"Snow News Day" are the only Season 6 episodes to neither premiere on a Friday nor as part of a premiere week.
  • This episode reveals that Myrtle used to be a secret agent when she was younger. Because of this, the secret compartment in her closet is filled with numerous passports and disguises.
  • According to Lana, she prefers to drink water that comes from the bathroom (specifically the toilet).
  • The game that the Loud family was playing at the start of the episode was The Settlers of Cat-Land, which first appeared in "Lynner Takes All".
  • Foreshadowing:
    • The van that chases after the kids bears a strong resemblance to Tyler's van from "You Auto Know Better", which indicates whose vehicle was really chasing them.
    • In the shot where Myrtle pushes Albert off the cliff, two anchors could be seen in the ground hinting that Albert and Myrtle were actually rock climbing.

References[]

  • Pop Pop the Question - The title of the episode is a pun on the phrase "pop the question," which usually refers to when someone proposes to their significant other.

Errors[]

  • During the night scenes, Lynn's skin tone is light pink.
  • When Rita takes Albert and Myrtle back to Sunset Canyon Luan was seen with Mr. Coconuts, but in the close up shot he's not on her hand.
  • When Leni holds her shuffleboard cue, her hand overlaps it.
  • Lily was seen being taken with siblings to warn Albert about Myrtle, and was seen for a brief moment when they arrive at Sunset Canyon, but wasn't seen when they were driving to Sunset Canyon and when they arrived at Sleeping Bear Dunes.
  • When Myrtle shows the siblings the ring, Luan's bottom teeth aren't detailed.
  • Plot hole: In "Resident Upheaval", it was stated that Myrtle and Nana Gayle shared a two-person room together at Sunset Canyon, but in this episode, the room is shown to be a single room, and Myrtle is the only resident occupying the room.
