Episode Information

"Ro-Bro" is the third episode of the first season of The Really Loud House.

Plot[]

Lincoln dreams of having a cool older brother, and Lisa invents Ro-Bro for him; Ro-Bro is a blast until he bullies Clyde, and Lincoln realizes he has everything he needs in his brother from two other fathers, Clyde McBride.

Synopsis[]

Act I[]

At the Loud House, Lincoln and Clyde watch a commercial for a newly-released video game, Blood Bath and Beyond: Deathfest 7. While Clyde is apprehensive about purchasing the game because it is rated L for "lethal", Lincoln is more excited about it because now that they are middle schoolers, they can take on more mature works. As they continue to debate the issue at middle school, Lincoln suggests that they get an older person to buy the game for them. This sentiment only increases when one of their peers, Johnny, receives the game from his older brother. Lincoln fantasizes about having a cool, older brother to hang out with, and when he confesses this to Lisa, Todd suggests to Lisa a hypothesis she finds intriguing.

Meanwhile, Lynn Sr. has wrenched his neck again while trying to bake and mop at the same time, and sets up a herbal bath to let it heal. As he leaves to get the cucumber slices for his eyes, Lana occupies the bathroom to clog the toilet and spends all night unclogging it for seven hours. When she is finished, she warns him it will take a few more hours before the bathroom can be used again.

Todd brings Lincoln to Lisa and Lily's room, where Lisa introduces Lincoln to her latest creation: the Ro-Bro 5000, his own older brother.

Act II[]

Ro-Bro proves to be the older brother of Lincoln's dreams, taking him all over Royal Woods to have fun, doing his homework for him, and retrieving all the toys from Mr. Grouse's yard. Ro-Bro even gets Deathfest 7 for Lincoln and comes to pick him up from school. However, after meeting Clyde, Ro-Bro immediately deems Clyde a nerd and leaves him at school.

At the Loud House, Lynn Sr. attempts his bath once again, but Lola takes over to prepare for her pageant. Lincoln and Ro-Bro play Deathfest 7 downstairs, but when Clyde comes over to play, Ro-Bro insults Clyde once more, forcing Clyde to leave. That night, Lincoln has a nightmare where the three are in the game, and Ro-Bro forces Lincoln to leave Clyde behind and trapped in rubble. When he wakes up, Lincoln confesses to Ro-Bro that they have been hard on Clyde, but that causes Ro-Bro to turn against Lincoln. After distracting Ro-Bro, Lincoln flees to the bathroom, accidentally fixing Lynn Sr.'s neck in the process, and apologizes to Clyde on walkie-talkie. This causes Clyde to join Lincoln to take down Ro-Bro.

Act III[]

The two meet up in the basement and plan for Lincoln to distract Ro-Bro while Clyde attacks Ro-Bro with Lynn Sr.'s Chili Cook-Off trophy. When the time comes, however, Ro-Bro has destroyed Lynn Sr.'s trophy, forcing them to retreat. Ro-Bro follows them into the basement and easily overpowers them, but Clyde realizes that they need to defeat Ro-Bro with kindness. Ro-Bro admits that his "father" was never there for him, and Lincoln and Clyde declare they will be there to love him, causing Ro-Bro to shut down.

Back in Lisa's room, it is revealed that all this was an experiment to test Lincoln and Clyde's friendship. As Lincoln and Clyde ride their bicycles on the street, Ro-Bro's car disappears.

Trivia[]

  • This is the lowest-viewed episode of The Really Loud House (along with the entire franchise) to premiere in 2022.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • One of Lincoln and Clyde's favorite childhood games is Kitten Emergency, and one summer when they were transitioning to third grade, they got the highest score in the entire state of Michigan, resulting in the mayor writing a letter to them and a picture of them being put up at the kitten shelter.
    • Once a year, Lynn Sr. always wrenches his neck very badly, but he routinely fixes it by the means of taking an herbal bath.
    • Clyde is forbidden to eat snacks between meals.
  • This is the first episode in the franchise to use a licensed song, in this case the Kenny Loggins song "Danger Zone" and the Jesus Jones song "Right Here, Right Now".
  • This episode features a callback to the Loud House episode "11 Louds a Leapin'" by mentioning how Mr. Grouse takes possession of everything that ends up in his yard.
  • This episode takes place after the Loud House episode "Driver's Dread", as Clyde asks Lincoln if Leni or Rita will pick them up, alluding to Leni getting her driver's license in that episode.
  • The way that Lincoln and Clyde defeat Ro-Bro is similar to how they (and Lisa) defeat Chip Micro (Todd) in the Loud House episode "Lights, Camera, Nuclear Reaction".
  • In real life, although L is not a rating that can be given by the Entertainment Software Rating Board, the organization that assigns age and content ratings to video games in the United States (with its description presented in this episode corresponding to M, meaning "mature"), it is a real video game rating that can be given by the Brazilian Advisory Rating System, where it stands for "Livre" (targeted at general audiences).
  • This is the only Really Loud House episode where John DiMaggio voices Mr. Grouse, as Peter Breitmayer would end up portraying him in his first physical appearance in the series, "Spelling and Doorbelling".
  • Innuendo: When Ro-Bro was in Mr. Grouse's yard and after Mr. Grouse threw various item back into the Loud's yard, Ro-Bro said "now you've got no balls" and said "ha ha."
  • Irony:
    • Lincoln initially told Ro-Bro that Clyde was cool, but Ro-Bro found Clyde to be nerdy, and Clyde ended up abandoning Lincoln since he was more engaged in his activities with Ro-Bro than him.
      • In return, Lincoln's feelings for Clyde led to Ro-Bro turning on him.
    • In Lincoln's dream, Ro-Bro initially refused to eat Clyde's lemon squares due dismissing him as a baker and the conditions of the situation he and Lincoln were in, but after Clyde got trapped under the rubble, he wanted the lemon squares, despite still being dismissive towards Clyde.
    • Lynn Sr. constantly saw his herbal bath being stalled by his children needing to use the bathroom, and he ended up not needing to take it when Lincoln stalled it.
