"Road Trip: Bizarritorium" is the ninth episode of the seventh season, the three-hundred-fourth episode, the fifteenth full-length episode of The Loud House, and the first episode of the Road Trip story arc.

Plot[]

When Mom is assigned a travel article at work, she takes the entire family on a cross country road trip. But the trip gets off to a bumpy start when Lincoln tries to change Mom's itinerary to go to Dr. Weirdly's Bizarritorium.

Synopsis[]

Act I[]

S7E05 A new recreational vehicle rolls up

Camperzilla is introduced.

Today is the start of summer break. As the Louds indulge themselves in their hobbies, Rita suddenly arrives in an RV. She reveals that Jesse Hiller offered her a special assignment of going on a cross country tour of America for the newspaper's travel column. As the Louds check out the inside of the RV (while Lisa takes notes of improvements she and Lana can make), Rita shows them her travel itinerary, where she reveals that their first stop is Niagara Falls, and states that she wants to make it there on time to report on a barrel race that's occurring, so everyone has to wake up early tomorrow. Suddenly, Lincoln notices that on the way, they'll be passing by Dr. Weirdly's Bizarritorium, a roadside attraction featuring strange oddities. When Lincoln begs if they can go, Rita says that they can only go if they have enough extra time.

That night, as everyone is asleep, Lincoln explains to the viewers that, if they want to make it to the Bizarritorium on time, he needs to make sure they leave ahead of schedule. He decides to accomplish this by setting everyone's clocks forward so they could wake up earlier than usual. The next morning, as the very groggy family tries to start their day, Lincoln attempts to make them hurry up so they can get on the road in time. Upon dragging everyone and their luggage outside, Lana and Lisa reveal that, after going through all the flaws in the RV, they worked together to improve them, and present the newly improved RV, christened "Camperzilla". With everyone ready, the Louds officially begin their trip towards Niagara Falls.

Sometime later, as the family passes through the Michigan border, Lynn Sr. is cooking up pancakes for breakfast. Suddenly, Lola says that they need to stop so she could use the bathroom (as Lynn had clogged the toilet in the RV). Upon stopping at a rest stop, Lincoln tries his best to make everyone move as fast as they could. After helping Lori with getting a snack stuck from the vending machine, and driving the line of women needing to use the bathroom away, the Louds officially get back on the road.

S7E05 The Louds are in front of Dr

Dr. Weirdly's Bizarritorium is out of business.

With only 90 miles left to reach Niagara Falls, Lincoln discovers a sign stating that the Bizarritorium is at the next exit. Running up to his mother, Lincoln asks if they can go and visit the Bizarritorium, and Rita, realizing they have plenty of time, decides to stop on by. Unfortunately, when they arrive, it turns out that the attraction has been shut down, as it has apparently been out of business for some time. As the family heads back to the RV, Lincoln, while leaning on the entrance in disappointment, accidentally opens it, allowing him to see the inside of the building, where it's all dusty and full of storage boxes. Suddenly, he discovers the Royal Ring of Royalty, an ancient ring that was once part of the attraction's mummy. He decides to keep this ring as a souvenir, but unbeknownst to him and his family, the eyes on the ring start glowing, and a giant storm cloud with the face of the mummy appears and looms over them.

Act II[]

As the family continues on their way, a string of strange mishaps begins to befall onto the family, like a raincloud pouring rain on just them, the stove and refrigerator not working, and two of their tires popping. After stopping at a burger restaurant called Busy Burger, the family goes in to get their food (while Lana stays outside to fix the tires). However, the misfortunes continue to happen, like their seats collapsing under their weight, the restaurant not having any burgers, and their fryers not working. After resorting to their last available option, mustard sandwiches, the family prepares to leave, but the bag holding their sandwiches rips. On the bright side, Lana got the tires fixed, but the moment of fortune is immediately lost when it starts to rain again, and a lightning strike hits a tree, causing it to fall onto the RV.

S7E05 Lincoln looks at the Royal Ring of Royalty

Lincoln realizes his souvenir has cursed his family.

During the drive, the family continues to suffer through even more misfortunes, like the radio blasting polka music (with Rita unable to change it due to the tree taking out their antenna), a hole in the roof allowing rain to leak through, and Leni's use of an umbrella to block it unintentionally acting as a lightning rod, causing the RV to spin out of control (with Lynn Sr. unable to get out of it due to the brakes not working), and crash into a sign. As the family steps out to assess the damage, Lori questions what's going on, saying they're having the worst luck ever. When Lucy states that it feels more like a curse, she begins to list off the reasons on why this might be the case. When she asks if anyone took a sacred, ancient heirloom, Lincoln realizes that the Royal Ring of Royalty he took from the Bizarritorium might've been the cause of all this. Lincoln tries to ask Lucy what would happen if he hypothetically found an ancient ring, only for Lola, who had overheard him, to immediately tattle to everyone that he's responsible for the curse due to taking the ring. Naturally, everyone is angry at Lincoln for causing all of this trouble, and when Lincoln asks if he could put it back, Lucy tells him that he can't, as putting it on essentially put the curse on them. Luckily, there's a way for them to lift the curse: they must make an offering and instructs her family to get the necessary ingredients for a potion. Rita initially refuses, wanting to make it to Niagara Falls in time to document the barrel race, but, unable to take any more of the curse, agrees to help lift it.

After finding the three main ingredients (a specific type of moss, a certain type of flower from a dangerous plant, and a gem from a cave), the family prepares to lift the curse. After dressing Lincoln up as a mummy by wrapping him with toilet paper - which doesn't actually serve any purpose, as Lucy only did that to him as payback for cursing the family - Lucy instructs her family to dump the ingredients into her cauldron. After creating the potion, she drops a dollop of it onto the ring, and the family begins to chant the spell to lift the curse. Immediately, the ring flies off Lincoln hand, and the mummy appears before them. As the ring disintegrates, all of the damage to RV is repaired and the curse is successfully lifted. As the family hugs it out, Rita says that they've only got 30 minutes left to make it to Niagara Falls, and fears that they won't make it in time. However, Lana and Lisa reveal that they have the solution to that: jet boosters. After everyone straps in, the boosters are activated, and they zoom off to Niagara Falls.

S7E05 The Louds all enter Camperzilla

The Louds set off on their road trip.

The family finally arrives to Niagara Falls, but to their dismay, they arrived just as soon as the barrel race has concluded. At that moment, Jesse calls up Rita to ask if she was able to make it on time to see who won the race. When Rita admits that they didn't make it in time due to hitting a snag and insists that they'll make it to the next destination in time, Jesse, doubting that Rita won't make a good travel writer due to not making it to her first destination on time, decides to take Rita off the assignment. Lincoln, knowing he's responsible for this, takes his mother's phone and begs for Jesse to give her another chance, saying that they would've made it on time had he not put an ancient mummy's curse on his family. Interested by this story, Jesse asks him to tell her the whole thing, and after Lincoln tells her everything, she ends up loving it, and tells Rita that the travel assignment is back on, saying that, instead of using the itinerary she provided, she can go wherever they want. With the assignment back in full swing, the family leaves Niagara Falls, ready to head to the next destination of their summer-long road trip.

Cast[]

Errol and the couple whose car Lynn Sr. covered in flapjacks have no lines in this episode.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only episode in the Road Trip arc to be full-length instead of a segment.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Mr. Grouse dreads summertime because all of the Loud kids are home all day for 3 months as schools are closed for the summer.
    • Lola's alarm clock has a crown as the ringer.
    • Luan's alarm clock is designed to set off a series of pranks for whoever touches it, including a foghorn, a squirt flower, a series of flatulence, and launching a pie.
    • Loud noises tend to cause Lola to mess up her makeup.
    • Lana likes to drink expired milk.
    • Lana's favorite type of sandwich is mustard.
  • The premise of this episode is similar to the Casagrandes episode "Weather Beaten", as they're both about the main family being cursed by an ancient artifact, and the only way to lift it is by making an offering.
  • This is the first Loud House episode to depict references to both Ace Savvy and David Steele in the present. Their previous only appearance within the same episode in the series was in "Family Bonding", which depicted Ace Savvy in a flashback and David Steele in the present, although they had both appeared in the present in the Really Loud House episode "The Guy Who Makes You Fly".
  • To highlight how cheaply made Dr. Weirdly's commercial for the Bizarritorium was, the green pixels around his body displays a poor usage of green screen.
  • Irony:
    • Mr. Grouse celebrating the Louds' departure on vacation by doing cartwheels caused him to wrench his back, effectively ruining the experience for him to an extent.
    • Lincoln set all of the clocks ahead in the house to give everybody extra time to visit Dr. Weirdly's Bizarritorium, only to discover later that it had gone out of business.
    • After hearing the sound of a tire pop, Rita was worried that Camperzilla had a flat tire. However, Lucy discovered that the camper had two flat tires.
    • Lincoln stealing the Royal Ring of Royalty caused the Louds' hopes of lunch to go downhill, since they found the Busy Burger to be fresh out of burgers, have a non-functioning fryer, and only have mustard sandwiches available, albeit ones that moistened their to-go bag to the point where it gave out on the sidewalk.
    • When the RV starts spinning out of control and Lynn Sr. is unable to stop it due to the brakes not working, the sign they crash into reads, "Brake Check Area 1/4 Mile - Drive Safe".
    • The mummy's curse caused the Loud family to arrive at Niagara Falls just as the champion of the barrel race had received his trophy.
      • While this also initially caused Jesse to fire Rita from writing the travel column, she found Lincoln's story about the Mystic Mummy of Mystery's curse to be interesting enough to put in the column, and she re-hired Rita to write it.
  • Cartoon physics: Lana's head gets molded into the shape of the toilet bowl.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Lola claims that nobody can hide bling from her, and she finds the moonstone in an instant.
      • Her asking for a real challenge also immediately preceded the cave collapsing on the Louds.
    • At the end of the episode, Lola suggests that the Louds go to Hollywood, foreshadowing the events of "Road Trip: Screen Queen".

References[]

  • Bizarritorium - The title of this episode is a portmanteau of "bizarre" and "auditorium."
  • Ripley's Believe It or Not! - Dr. Weirdly's Bizarritorium is likely a reference to this franchise's branch of museums, which are famous for its displays of strange oddities.
  • Illuminati - This symbol of the New World Order is visible on the Mystic Mummy of Mystery's coffin.
  • Yin yang - The symbol for this Chinese philosophical concept that describes opposite but interconnected forces is visible on the Mystic Mummy of Mystery's coffin.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants - Luan's alarm clock has a foghorn on it, similar to the titular character of this Nickelodeon animated series' alarm clock.
    • Coincidently, this episode first premiered on SpongeBob's canonical birthday, July 14th.
    • This is the first episode of Season 7 to reference SpongeBob's alarm clock. The second is "Leave No Van Behind".
  • Ed Wynn - Dr. Weirdly's voice sounds very similar to this late comedian known for his distinctive goofy voice.

Errors[]

  • Possible: Dr. Weirdly's Bizarritorium is spelled with two Zs instead of two Rs (Bizzaritorium). Though, it's likely that it was spelled like that reflect on supposedly cheap quality of the attraction.
    • It's also likely that the episode was renamed during production.
  • When Lynn Sr. was pushing the kids into Busy Burger, Lana can be seen alongside the others, but when they take their seats, she is no longer with them.
