Episode Information

"Roadie to Nowhere" is the fourth episode of the third season and the one-hundred-fifth episode of The Loud House.

Plot

Luna learns Chunk was like her in high school, and worries that her ambition to be a rocker is unrealistic.

Synopsis

Luna meets Chunk in the driveway, who was sleeping in his van so he wouldn't be late for her audition for the Royal Rumble. After her performance (and a stage dive), Mrs. Vaporciyan tells her that she passed and Luna excitedly exclaims, "Next stop, rock 'n' roll fame!". Mrs. Vaporciyan then meets Chunk and recognizes him as Chester Monk, since she was his first teacher in his first year after moving from England, and tells Luna that he also headlined the Royal Rumble. During the trip back home, Luna asks him about it and Chunk shows her his yearbook and finds his name, along with the words, "Next stop, rock 'n' roll fame!". He then pulls over to pick up an old washing machine, and Luna begins to worry that she won't make it as a rock star and will end up living in a van, just like Chunk.

So, she sets out on finding a better career in music. Luna starts off with applying at a record store and is hired, but after scaring off her first customer, she is fired. Then, Luna gets hired to be DJ at a karaoke bar, but then she is fired after interrupting Mrs. Johnson while she was singing. Back at home, Lisa is making her weekly DNA cheek swabs and notices Luna looking depressed. She confides to her little sister how she is worried about her future and can't find any other way to fit into the music business other than being a rock star. Lisa then suggests that she tries careers based on health care, food service and technology.

Taking Lisa's advice, Luna goes to work with her Mom as a dentist, and Flip comes in for his checkup, which Rita notes that he is ten years overdue. After watching her Mom clean out so much gunk from his teeth and tried to remove a false tooth made from beef jerky, Luna faints. With dental hygiene not working out for her, Luna goes to work with her Dad as a waiter. With Scoots as her first customer, she serves her a salad, but she complains that she asked for extra bacon. After Luna adds more bacon, Scoots complains that the cheese smells bad, which Luna removes, but then Scoots complains there's too much bacon, causing Luna to snap and her Dad takes over. She then moves on to work in IT with Mr. Grouse. He tries to debug a code on a computer, but then a "Catastrophic Error" pops up. Luna steps in and manages to fix it, stating that she learned about computers from recording music. Satisfied with the results, Mr. Grouse tells her that she has a future in IT.

Back at the high school, Luna tells Mrs. Vaporciyan that she is dropping out of the Royal Rumble, and explains how she'll be working in IT instead since she believes she won't make it as a rock star. Luna then discovers a flyer for Chunk and his band "Chunk & the Pieces", and they're having a concert that night in The Red Herring, much to Luna's surprise since she assumed that Chunk had given up on music a long time ago. She goes to see his band perform and cheers for him in the crowd. He also uses the washing machine as a part of his performance, which explains why he picked it up earlier. After the concert, Luna talks with Chunk backstage and asks if he was upset that he didn't make it as a rock star - but he tells her that despite the fact that his band never made it big, he still enjoys playing with them and he's doing what he loves doing, and that's his definition of 'making it'. He further explains he doesn't live in his van, he only sleeps in it the night before a big gig. Realizing that her love for music is not a hindrance in her life, she no longer feels insecure about her future and decides to continue her dream as a rock star.

Rock star and roadie rock the stage together.

And so, Luna performs at the Royal Rumble for an entire audience, including her family. During her performance, she mixed her lyrics based on what she experienced throughout the day and even welcomes Chunk on the stage as "rumble royalty" and he performs alongside her. The performance was a major success as the crowd cheers for them both.
