Episode Information

"Snow Escape" is the forty-second episode of the sixth season, and the two-hundred-eighty-eighth episode of The Loud House.

Plot[]

To make it to school, the Louds must survive a monstrous Lynn when the weather man declares it a "Packing Day."

Synopsis[]

S6E23A The siblings scream

The other Louds freak out; Packing Day is about.

Lincoln explains to the viewers that today is the last day of school before the start of winter break, and to celebrate, each of their respective classes are holding a party. As the siblings admire the snow outside, while Lynn Sr. shovels their walkway and Lola showing off her star costume for the 2nd grade play she'll be in, they learn from Patchy Drizzle on the TV about their current weather situation. Patchy explains that with last night's snowstorm and today's mild temperatures, he declares it perfect for a "Packing Day" (named so because of how much easier it is to pack snowballs). This announcement scares the living daylights out of the entire family, with Lincoln explaining to the viewers that Lynn goes completely feral on this day by ruthlessly pelting her family with snowballs, and no one is spared. After witnessing Lynn Sr. be the first victim to Lynn's attacks (where he's forced to take shelter in Vanzilla), and with no mode of transportation to take them to school (due to Lynn popping Vanzilla's tires and school buses no longer going down Franklin Ave. during Packing Day after an incident last year), the siblings have no choice but to walk to school, but not before equipping themselves with armor. After getting suited up, the kids promptly head to school.

As the kids cautiously head to school, Lynn discovers their presence and immediately closes in on them. She fires a barrage of snowballs onto her siblings, causing their shields to break apart from impact. As a result, the siblings begin to gun it, but Lucy, Lana and Luna are taken out, prompting them to tell the others to go on without them. While Lincoln, Leni, Luan, Lola and Lisa hide behind a fence, they discover Lynn approaching fast, and realize they need to hide. Spotting a singing Christmas decoration on a nearby lawn, the five siblings quickly disguise themselves as the decoration. While trying to run to school, Lynn arrives, forcing the siblings to stand still and trick Lynn into thinking they're just a singing decoration. Lynn initially falls for the trick, but Lola makes her performance more extravagant and blows their cover, causing Lynn to begin chasing after them. After a brief chase, the siblings believe that they evaded Lynn, but she suddenly appears from under the snow and drags Luan into the bushes. Quickly, Lincoln tells his remaining sisters to follow him.

Arriving to Lynn's Table, Lincoln, Leni, Lola and Lisa seek refuge inside the restaurant. When Lisa says that none of them will make it to school with Lynn on the prowl, Lincoln gets the idea of turning the tables on Lynn by trapping her in the restaurant. After getting their trap set up, Lola uses the illuminated lights on her costume to lure Lynn to the restaurant. Seeing the lights in the distance, Lynn arrives to the restaurant and ends up falling victim to her siblings' trap, where she is shoved and locked in the food storage locker. Unfortunately, the second the siblings leave the restaurant, Lynn appears before them, having picked the lock and, because they shoved her in a room full of food, she's now completely energized. As the four defenseless siblings prepare themselves for a painful pummeling, Lincoln discovers that every time Lynn burps, snow from the restaurant's slanted roof falls off. Getting an idea, Lincoln asks Lynn if they would like to trade spots, to which Lynn agrees, much to the others' chagrin. On cue, when Lynn lets out a massive burp, the vibrations cause the snow on the rooftop to fall onto her, temporarily immobilizing her. Seeing this as their chance to escape, Lincoln, Leni, Lola and Lisa quickly head off to school.

S6E23A The family enjoying the holiday food

The family treats themselves to some good food.

Sometime later, the kids and the parents relax in the living room while chowing down on all the snacks they got from their respective parties. At that moment, Lynn arrives and asks her family if they're cool with her after what she did to them today. Before she can get an answer, Patchy Drizzle appears on the TV and announces that, given their current weather conditions, he declares that tomorrow will be another Packing Day. This prompts Lynn to rush out of the house so she can get herself ready. The second she leaves, Luna points out that there's no school tomorrow (since it's the start of winter break), meaning that the siblings have an excuse not to leave the house. Regardless, the family decides not to bother telling her.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode in airing order to premiere during the run of The Really Loud House.
  • This is the first episode to premiere in the UK and Ireland after Finland.
  • This episode makes The Loud House the third Nicktoon to get three Christmas episodes, after Rugrats and SpongeBob SquarePants.
  • This episode reveals that Lynn goes completely berserk whenever Patchy Drizzle declares it "Packing Day", which is when a snowstorm from the night before and the next day's mild temperatures make it easier to pack snowballs. On this day, Lynn would mercilessly pelt any individuals who happen to cross her path (including her family) with snowballs.
  • This, its sister episode, "Present Danger"/"Stressed for the Part", "Crashed Course", "A Stella Performance", and "Pop Pop the Question"/"Lynn and Order" are the only Season 6 episodes that aired in 2022 to not premiere on a Friday.
  • This episode reveals that on the last Packing Day, Lynn attacked Ernie, one of the school bus drivers, and became so frozen, he has not thawed out since. As a result, the school buses cease to go down Franklin Avenue on any future Packing Days.
    • The Loud house's slanted floors established in "Homespun" were caused by Lynn's monstrous behavior.
  • The premise of this episode is similar to those of "Snow Bored" and the April Fool's Day tetralogy, as they all involve the Loud family seeking protection from a sibling who has gone rogue due to the day's conditions.
  • The way that Lola blinds people with the brightness of her star costume is similar to how she does it with her teeth whitener in The Loud House Movie.
  • Aside from Lori, who is at college, the only sibling not to get attacked during Packing Day was Lily.
  • Innuendo: Lucy's gift for Haiku is a beating heart, which disgusts Lincoln.
    • She is the second character to gift a beating heart, after Lisa in "L Is for Love".
  • Cartoon physics: Lynn managed to split a tree open with her snowballs.

References[]

  • Snow Escape - The title of the episode is a pun on the phrase "no escape."
  • Poltergeist - Lucy's line, "She's here," when she and her siblings head to school is similar to Carol Anne's line, "They're here," from this 1982 supernatural horror film.
  • Jingle Bells - When Lincoln, Leni, Lola and Lisa set up their trap in Lynn's Table, an instrumental version of this iconic Christmas song can be heard.

Errors[]

  • When Luna ran past Lincoln as he was explaining what Lynn does on Packing Day, his arms clips through Luna's body.
  • When the sibling prepared themselves to walk to school, Lana's winter attire color palette is the same as her normal outfit.
    • After they ran out of the garage, her winter outfit changes back to her neon green and gray coat.
  • Plot hole: It's never explained how Luna, Lucy and Lana managed to make it to school after they were attacked by Lynn.
    • It's also a mystery as to what happened to Luan when she was captured by Lynn or how she made it to school as well.
  • When Lincoln, Leni, Luan, Lola and Lisa disguised themselves as a Christmas decoration, Lola wasn't seen running with them when they disguised themselves as the decoration.
  • When Lynn lets out a massive burp, her freckles disappear and reappear after she burped.
