Synopsis[]

S06E23B Who's outside

Is there an abominable snowman in Royal Woods?

One night in Royal Woods, Clyde and Zach discover that there's a large, furry white creature lurking outside their homes. That morning, Lincoln, wanting to help his father shovel the driveway, discovers a rather large footprint on his front lawn. Sometime later, at the middle school, the Action News Team is having a slow news day, unable to think of any compelling stories to report. Suddenly, Zach brings up the story that there might be an abominable snowman in Royal Woods, with Lincoln and Clyde corroborating him by saying that they saw signs of its presence as well. Knowing this will be their biggest scoop yet, the Action News Team decides to go look for it.

Later, the Action News Team is in the woods, trying to find any signs of the abominable snowman's presence. First, the team discovers a set of tracks that lead to a cave, but instead of finding the creature, they instead find a herd of deer. Second, they attempt to lure the creature out using some cinnamon rolls Clyde baked, but a nearby owl, unable to resist the smell of them, attacks Clyde to take the stash for itself, resulting in a tug-of-war between the team and the bird. Lastly, Zach has Stella dress up as a Swiss yodeler so that she can lure the creature out with her yodeling. Stella does as obliged, but instead sets off an avalanche, which is coming down towards them. As the team runs away from the falling wall of snow, everyone but Liam manages to get out of the way, while Liam ends up getting swept away to his farm. Just as the team is about to give up finding the abominable snowman, Rusty unknowingly lies on top of it, causing it to run away. Luckily, just before it ran away, Lincoln managed to take a photo of it and, realizing they now have irrefutable proof of the abominable snowman's existence, they proceed to upload it to their school's news website.

Later that night, when Lincoln arrives home, he discovers his entire family watching the TV in awe. It turns out that ever since Lincoln and the Action News Team uploaded their story of the abominable snowman's existence, every news station in the Midwest is reporting about it and sending shockwaves all over. Alongside that, the Action News Team become local celebrities at their school for successfully proving the creature's existence. Upon entering the newsroom, Liam reveals something urgent: the creature they found is really a sheep of his named Roxanne. Liam explains that he knows it's her because of the bright blue eyes and that he taught her how to stand on two legs (so that they could skateboard together, with video footage to prove it). Realizing they told a story that wasn't true, Clyde suggests telling the truth, but Rusty argues that if they confessed, they would be laughingstocks. Lincoln eventually gets the idea of bringing Roxanne to the farm so that she can be sheared and then report that the abominable snowman simply ran away.

S06E23B Actually Roxanne

Liam reunited with his long-lost sheep.

Later, the team is in the woods trying to find Roxanne, when suddenly, they encounter Katherine Mulligan, who reports that Mayor Davis has hired Mr. Bolhofner to try and capture the abominable snowman. Knowing that Mr. Bolhofner will likely harm Roxanne should he find her, Lincoln, Rusty and Stella decide to tag along to "help out", while Clyde, Zach and Liam go find Roxanne. During the search, Mr. Bolhofner explains that he likes to leave markers on trees so that they won't go in circles. This prompts Lincoln, Rusty and Stella to swipe the markers off, hoping this would buy Clyde, Zach and Liam some time. After making a complete circle, Lincoln is informed by Zach that Roxanne has been found, but Mr. Bolhofner, listening in on them, overhears their coordinates and begins to rush there. Moments later, Mr. Bolhofner arrives, ready to lasso the creature, but is stopped by the Action News Team, where they reveal that the "abominable snowman" is really a sheep, and Liam proves it by giving Roxanne her first shearing in years. With the truth exposed, the Action News Team admit that they made a mistake and apologize for duping everyone. Just as they're about to leave, Katherine stops them, saying that she accepts the apology, stating that news reporters make mistakes all the time. Because of this, the Action News Team declares that from now on, they'll only report the truth.

Cast[]

Leni, Luna, Luan, Lucy, Lana, Lola, Harold and Mr. Gurdle have no lines in this episode. Teen Girl also has no lines in this episode, but can be heard screaming.

Trivia[]

  • This, its sister episode, "Present Danger"/"Stressed for the Part", "Crashed Course", "A Stella Performance", and "Pop Pop the Question"/"Lynn and Order" are the only Season 6 episodes thus far to not premiere on a Friday.
  • This is the second time a yeti hoax appears in the franchise, after the Casagrandes short "Creature Seekers", which features Hector as the fake yeti.
  • The city shown in Liam's flashback resembles Great Lakes City.
  • This is not the first time Lincoln and Clyde have seen a yeti (although it does turn out to be a hoax in this episode); according to the second Lincoln Vlog, they have both seen a yeti in person before.
  • Stella wears her "Yodel Boy" outfit (minus the wig) from "Saved by the Spell" in this episode.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Liam once owned a sheep named Roxanne that he taught how to walk on two legs so that they could skateboard together.
    • Mr. Bolhofner once froze himself in a block of Arctic ice until he was rescued by a Japanese fishing rig.
    • Mr. Bolhofner lost one of his toes on his left foot.
      • Since Mr. Bolhofner mentioned in "The Orchid Grief" that he's also missing a toe on his right foot, this means that he currently has only eight toes.
    • Katherine Mulligan once reported that radioactive mutants had taken over city hall, but it turned out to be a false alarm, although Zach believes it really happened.
623b Chandler cut out
  • Chandler was originally going to appear in the scene where the Action News Team parades down the school halls after the success of their Abominable Snowman story, but he was replaced with Girl Jordan in the final product.
  • The plot of this episode is similar to those of "Zach Attack" and "The Loudly Bones", as all involve a person or group of people raising a false alarm to the public and facing the dilemma of hiding the truth from them. Like the latter, the message that the public received turned out to be a false alarm soon after it was spread.
  • Irony: Because Liam was swept away in the avalanche, he was unable to dispute his friends' belief that the "abominable snowman" they found was really his sheep until after the story was made public.
  • Innuendo:
    • Lynn Sr. changes the channel to a program about underwear that causes butt rashes.
    • The highest setting on Liam's shearer is 'Baaat out of heck'.
    • Mr. Bolhofner prepares to show his four-toed left foot on camera.

References[]

  • Snow News Day - The title of the episode is a pun on the term "slow news day," which refers to when media organizations publish trivial stories due to the lack of more substantial topics.
    • The Action News Team even experiences this type of situation in the episode.
  • Gravity Falls - One of the framed pictures in the Gurdles' living room resembles Bill Cipher, a character from this animated series.
  • Peanuts - Lincoln losing his clothes after being hit by Lynn Sr.'s snowblower is similar to how Charlie Brown loses his clothes after being hit by a baseball.
  • Meat Loaf - The highest setting on Liam's sheep shearer is named "Baaat Outta Heck", which is likely a reference to this late musician's 1977 debut album and/or song, "Bat Out of Hell".

Errors[]

  • When Lincoln gets hit by the show blower, his outfit suddenly changes from his winter outfit to his night attire.
  • Zach claims that the Abominable Snowman is of Alpine origin, when in actuality, it's of Himalayan origin.
  • Liam was seen jumping with the gang to avoid the avalanche before he was chased by the avalanche.
  • When Lincoln decides they can simply capture and sheer Roxanne, Stella's watch is on her right arm. But when she puts her hand in, it's on her left.
  • In the credits, Lucy is listed instead of Lynn.
