Lynn and friends enjoy free perks around Royal Woods when their team gets sponsored by local businesses.
Synopsis[]
Lynn and her soccer teammates, the Royal Woods Kangaroos, are playing a game. After winning their latest match, Andre, the manager of Burpin' Burger, arrives and congratulates Lynn for another successful game. He says that, on behalf of the restaurant, he would like to offer her a sponsorship, where she and her friends get to enjoy a free lunch and other perks on the condition that she follow their guidelines. Liking this offer, Lynn agrees, and later during the day, Lynn and her friends, Margo, Paula, Maddie and Carla, enjoy a free lunch. Amazed with the perks of a sponsorship, Lynn's friends decide they want sponsorship offers as well, and when they ask Andre if he can sponsor all of them, he says that they can only sponsor one person at a time, but says that, with the championship game coming up, there might be other places that they can try out. With this knowledge, Lynn's friends decide to do just that.
Soon enough, all of Lynn's friends get sponsored by a different business: Margo with Flip's Food & Fuel, Maddie with Gus' Games and Grub, Paula with Duds for Dudes, and Carla with Dairyland. As the days pass by, Lynn and her friends, wearing their sponsor's logos on their jerseys, manage to win several consecutive games, and promote the business they're sponsoring, thus allowing them to indulge in all their respective perks.
Sometime later, the big championship game is about to begin, and Coach Keck tells the Kangaroos to play to their heart's content. However, before they start, the sponsors arrive and tell the athletes who are sponsoring them that, because it's a championship game (meaning that there are more people watching than usual), they have to perform a specific action as they play in order to boost their success: Andre has Lynn wear a burger costume, Flip has Margo spin a sign, Gus has Maddie fire garlic knots from a cannon every time she kicks the ball, Rodney has Paula play while wearing a suit and wingtip shoe, and Tippy has Carla drink cheese smoothies as she plays. The sponsors warn them that failure to comply with their demands will cause them to have their perks taken away. Lynn says that it may suck to play under these ridiculous conditions, but it's worth it for the free perks.
Moments later, the championship game is ready to begin, as the Kangaroos faces off Hazeltucky. Unfortunately, as they play, the additions that they were given prove to be a major hinderance: Lynn can't see where she's kicking the ball due to the costume blocking her vision, Carla gets an upset stomach after running with a belly full of cheese, the large size of Paula's wingtip shoe causes her to accidentally kick the ball into their own goal, Margo is too focused on spinning her sign than guarding the goal, and Maddie's mishandling of the garlic knot cannon causes her to trip Lynn from making a goal. As a result, Hazeltucky ends up leading 0-6 at halftime.
Upon entering the locker room, Lynn finally admits that, regardless of what perks they get, it's not worth it at the cost of their dignity, to which her friends agree with. Suddenly, the sponsors arrive, ready to have their spokespeople do more things to promote their businesses, but the athletes tell them that they're quitting as their sponsors, saying that they want to get back to playing their game like champs. Soon enough, without the burdens of their sponsors hovering over them, Lynn and her friends make a successful comeback and win the game with the final score of 7-6.
The premise of this episode is similar to that of the Casagrandes episode "The Kid Plays in the Picture" and "Road Trip: Screen Queen", as they all involve characters signing contracts to get special perks, only to discover the downsides of the deal.
The cast for this episode reveals that the unnamed sports announcer who first appeared in "No Such Luck" is named Travis.
This makes him the second previously unnamed character to have their name revealed by the credits, after Rodney Spokes in "Dad Reputation".
Many of the places the Royal Woods Kangaroos got sponsorships from previously sponsored a team in "Net Gains":
The Burpin' Burger previously sponsored the Belchin' Ballers.
Flip's Food & Fuel previously sponsored the Turkey Jerkies.
This makes it the second time the gas station has sponsored one of Lynn's sports teams, and by extension, the second time Paula has been on a team sponsored by Flip's Food & Fuel. However, this marks the first time Margo is on a team sponsored by Flip's, as she was not added to the Turkey Jerkies until "Cheer Pressure".[note 1]
Coincidentally, one of the original members of the team, Diane, bears a similar name to Diana, one of the members of the Hazeltucky soccer team from this episode.
Gus' Games N' Grub previously sponsored the Garlic Nets.
Lynn and her friends thought that being sponsored meant nothing but free perks, but eventually discovered that being sponsored meant having to fulfill certain guidelines, even at the cost of their own dignity and sporting performance.
The Kangaroos dumped purple sports drink onto Coach Keck just after she admitted to having finally removed the stains from her clothes.

References[]
Sponsor Tripped - The title of this episode is a pun on the term "sponsored trip", which is when the cost of a trip is partly or fully sponsored by a donator or a third party other than the city.
It could also be a pun on the word "sponsorship", which means to act as a representative for a specific company to help support them.
I'm going to Disney World! - After Carla scores a winning goal, she tells the audience "After an udder-ly amazing game like this, I'm going to Dairyland!", a reference to this phrase said by NFL players (usually the MVP) to sponsor the Disney parks after winning the Super Bowl.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 - The way Pep sucks the tear he was shedding back into his eye is similar to Earl doing the same from this 2013 animated film.
Errors[]
Lynn was seen in her normal attire when Maddie was getting her sponsorship at Gus' Games and Grub. When Lynn and her friends leave, her attire switches back to her soccer attire.
Lynn was also seen wearing her normal attire when Paula got her sponsorship at Duds for Dudes.
In real life, Lynn and her teammates are not allowed to sign a sponsorship, due to being minors, without an adult to sign it. That would be breaking child labor laws.
In addition, real life sponsorships of team sports cover entire teams and/or sporting events rather than individual sportspersons.
