Episode Information

"Steeling Thunder" is the third episode of the eighth season, and the three-hundred-thirty-sixth episode of The Loud House.

Plot[]

To win their school film festival, Lincoln and Clyde cast Lynn as their movie's extreme stunt double.

Synopsis[]

At the Loud House, Lincoln and Clyde are filming their very own David Steele film, Steeling Thunder. Lincoln explains to the viewers that the middle school is having a film festival. Assisting them with their film are Flip and Nacho, who have agreed to play the villains. However, when they try to film a scene involving a dangerous stunt with a bounce house, Lincoln accidentally loses his balance and bounces onto the roof of the house, where he hangs on for dear life. Lynn, wearing roller skates, witnesses this and effortlessly saves her brother without much harm. Amazed by her ability to perform dangerous stunts without getting hurt, Lincoln and Clyde ask Lynn if she would like to be the stunt double for their film, to which she accepts.

Sometime later, at the middle school, the film festival is occurring. After the students watch Andrew's film, Ro-meow and Drool-iet, Girl Jordan, the host of the event, announces that the next film is Steeling Thunder. In the film, Lincoln, as David Steele, is attempting to stop Flip (playing the villain, Octo-Flippee) from stealing a pinata. During a scene involving Flip taking off in an airplane, Lincoln pretends to fall off the wing he's standing on so that Lynn, dressed as Lincoln (complete with a white wig), takes his place. Afterwards, Lynn proceeds to perform numerous dangerous stunts, such as clutching onto the wing of Flip's plane at a high altitude, jumping onto Nacho's own plane, jumping off to land on top of a tree, and wrestling an alligator for the pinata. Upon obtaining the pinata, Lynn walks behind a tree, where Lincoln steps back in to deliver the punchline. The film proves to be a massive success, and Lincoln and Clyde are declared the winners of the festival. When asked how it felt to have performed all those stunts himself, Lincoln tries to state that he didn't actually do that, but not wanting to upset the audience, lies to them by saying that it felt great.

Throughout the day, Lincoln tries to go through his school day like usual, but due to the success of his and Clyde's film and the idea that Lincoln performed the stunts like he claims, he ends up getting tons of special treatment, like Chef Pat giving him extra pizza sticks for lunch, Mr. Bolhofner excusing him from taking a pop quiz and offering to let him hang in the teacher's lounge, and Coach Keck excusing him from running sprints so he can relax in her "coach cave". Throughout all of this, Chandler is immensely annoyed, when suddenly, he discovers Lincoln tripping over nothing. Getting an idea, Chandler approaches Lincoln and Clyde after school and reveals that he knows that Lincoln is lying and is going to find proof of it. Out of fear of getting exposed, Lincoln and Clyde attempt to stop him.

Later, in the school library, Chandler pulls up the video (which Clyde uploaded to the school database for feedback) and, while sifting through the footage, finds a moment where Lynn's brown hair is briefly exposed. Now with irrefutable proof that Lincoln didn't perform the stunts, Chandler quickly prints up fliers saying that he'll be holding a screening in the lunchroom tomorrow to prove that Lincoln lied to everyone. When Chandler leaves, Lincoln and Clyde quickly delete the footage, only to discover another video file that catches their eye. The next day, in the lunchroom, Chandler is prepared to reveal his findings to the students, but upon turning the projector on, it instead plays a humiliating video of Chandler dressed as a cowboy and having a meltdown while riding on a pony (very slowly), causing the crowd to laugh at him. Undeterred, Chandler reveals that he has another idea: after school, he will force Lincoln to perform the stunts in real life and even has all the equipment ready for it.

S8E02A The students gathers around to congratulate Lincoln

Lincoln has fulfilled the stunts on his own.

Sometime later at Tall Timbers Park, everyone has gathered to see Lincoln perform the stunts, while Flip arrives with his plane. Lincoln, with no other way out of his situation (especially since Lynn can't fill in for him, as she is at a tournament), decides the best thing to do is to confess. Climbing onto the wing of Flip's plane, Lincoln attempts to tell everyone that he didn't really perform the stunts as he claimed, but he accidentally trips over nothing again, and Flip mistakes this as Lincoln taking his position. With no time to waste, Flip takes off while Lincoln hangs on for dear life on the wing. Lincoln tells Flip that he wants to get off, but Flip tells him the only way to do that is to jump and offers him a parachute. Lincoln jumps off the plane, but as he floats safely to the ground, Nacho's plane intercepts him, and he ends up flying in loops, much to the crowd's excitement. Eventually, Lincoln lands back on the ground, and Clyde, after telling him that everything he went through is punishment enough for his lies, tells him that, because he technically performed the stunts on his own, he successfully proved to everyone that he really is the stuntman he claimed to be, much to Chandler's chagrin. As the crowd cheers for Lincoln, Lincoln, having learned his lesson to never embellish, tells everyone that his stunt days are over, prompting Mr. Bolhofner to say that he could fill in as their stuntman, to which Clyde remarks, "He's hired."

Trivia[]

  • The title of this episode refers to the name of Lincoln and Clyde's movie for their school film festival.
  • The premise of this episode is similar to that of the Season 6 episode "Stroke of Luck", as they both involve the main character capitalizing off a lie their peers believe in and reaping in the treatment they receive. Unlike the aforementioned episode, where Lori confessed that she didn't pull off her achievement, Lincoln never confessed to his lies.
  • Despite what the Clincoln McCloud Productions vanity card says, it is unlikely that this episode takes place in 2018, as the vanity card was recycled from the Season 3 episode "Cooked!", and the biggest factor on this being the case is that the aforementioned episode takes place before Lincoln and Clyde entered middle school.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Clyde gets hives whenever he has to lie.
    • Dennis is still employed by Coach Keck, but she still incorrectly addresses him as "Hans".
    • Lincoln has a habit of tripping over nothing.
    • Chandler has an embarrassing video of him crying and freaking out while riding on a pony (very slowly) in his files.
  • Irony: Chandler attempted to expose Lincoln by having him perform the stunts Lynn did in his movie to prove that he couldn't do it, and while he didn't pull them off as flawlessly as Lynn did, the fact he managed to do it ended up working against Chandler, as everyone was convinced that Lincoln really did pull off his own stunts.
