"Survival of the Unfittest" is the twenty-first episode of the third season, and the ninety-sixth episode of The Casagrandes.

Plot[]

When Arturo realizes Bobby doesn't have survival skills, he decides bring Bobby to the woods for training!

Synopsis[]

At Arturo's apartment, Bobby and Arturo are preparing for a movie marathon to watch Esquella de Wizard. Before they start, Arturo goes to use the bathroom, Bobby plays with his wand, and the lights go out. Being afraid of the dark, he backs up and falls over the table. He takes out his phone to use as a light, but it dies. He wonders how he'll eat, so he finds a can and the can opener, but hits the can with the can opener. Bobby then thinks he can survive on the food in the trash can, so he crawls over to it, opens it, and dives right in to find no food. Arturo returns, knowing that the power has gone out. The power comes back on, and Arturo sees the state Bobby is in. Bobby tells him how scary it was, to which Arturo tells him he needs to work on his survival skills. Arturo suggests they go camping and teach Bobby how to survive on his own.

That weekend, the two are in the woods, preparing for the journey. Arturo goes over the lesson of how to survive. The first lesson is building a shelter, or in this case, a pop-up tent. Bobby goes to the tent and tries to pitch it. The tent pitches itself, hurling him straight up and landing on the tent. He tries again and goes under the tent; he fumbles with it but manages to re-pitch it. But the tent starts rolling around and hits the bee's tree. The bees manage to get the zipper open and swarm in to attack Bobby. The second lesson is navigation. Bobby uses his sense of smell to find a berry bush and his sense of hearing to hear a babbling brook. He chases after the sound. and know it's getting louder. Arturo tells Bobby to open his eyes, but Bobby trips over a rock, rolls down a hill, and crashes inside the tent. The tent goes rolling again, right into a cave, where a bear comes out and chases Bobby away. Later, Arturo sets an animal trap with an apple as bait. Bobby tries to take the apple out but gets snared in the trap, dangling from the tree. Arturo later teaches Bobby how to fish. Bobby pulls his reel back, but accidentally hooks his pants and casts them into the water. After he retrieves his pants and puts them back on, he feels something. He pulls out a fish, and Arturo sees it and thinks he caught a fish.

When Arturo comes out of the tent the next morning, he notices Bobby isn't there. He sees a note from Bobby saying he left early to find breakfast for the two. In the forest, Bobby is playing his guitar and singing. Not watching where he's going, he goes down a path marked with a red cross. Back at the tent, Arturo knows Bobby has been gone for a long time and goes to look for him. Meanwhile, Bobby is running low on energy; he sees a bird's nest with eggs.

Arturo calls for Bobby and spots his footprints going down the path with the red cross. He goes down the path and looks up and sees Bobby in an eagle's nest being pecked by the egg's mother. Bobby tells him he was trying to get them breakfast. Arturo thought Bobby was getting the hang of surviving after catching the fish. Bobby admits he didn't catch the fish, and it appeared in my pants. Arturo knows how to distract an eagle; he starts flapping his arms and cawing like an eagle. The eagle sees him and chases him away from Bobby so he can climb down. Bobby jumps onto another branch with the eggs, but the branch breaks and he falls on the animals. Arturo grabs Bobby, and they make a run for it while the animals chase after them. They run to the edge of a cliff and look down at the water below. They jump right before the animals get to them.

Later, they are on the GLART heading home, and Bobby tells Arturo he failed at everything, but Arturo tells him if anyone failed, it's him. Suddenly, the power goes out again, and the train stops. Bobby remembers what Arturo said in the woods about using all the senses to find safety. He uses his senses and knows they're at the park where Bruno is. He grabs his guitar and tells the passengers that if they sing, Bruno might hear them and help him. Everyone starts singing, and Bruno can hear them. He opens the grate, peers inside, and tries to open the emergency hatch, but it won't budge. He takes his ketchup and mustard and squirts them on the door before opening it. He then sends down a rope so everyone can get out. After everyone gets off the train, Arturo tells Bobby he's proud of him, and Bobby tells him he's a good teacher. Suddenly a taxi pulls up, and it's the animals from the forest, still angry, beginning to chase the boys.

Cast[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the second episode where Ronnie Anne is absent from both segments, with the first being "Fool's Gold"/"Flight Plan".
    • However, if only physical appearances count, then this is actually the third episode with this criteria (with the second being "Chancla Force"/"Fluff Love"), as Ronnie Anne appears only on a picture in the former episode.
  • Innuendo: Bobby plays the guitar while urinating, leaving Arturo and the forest animals confused and disgusted.

References[]

  • Survival of the Unfittest - The title of the episode is a parody of the expression "survival of the fittest", which refers to species who are capable of thriving in an environment that suits them most, while those uncapable aren't able to.
