The following is a transcript for the episode "Team Effort".
Script
[At the Chavez Acadamy Sports Fair, Coach Crawford is sitting, peacefully drinking his coffee, when Ronnie Anne quickly skates by, followed by Sameer, Casey, and Nikki]
Coach Crawford: [Distainfully] "Skateboarders. You misfits decide on a team sport yet? It's mandatory."
Ronnie Anne: [Offscreen] "Okay Coach!" [They walk around and look at the available sports] "Basketball, baseball, field hockey, I'm not super into any of these."
[They walk up to Becky, who's wearing a pool floaty and holding a fencing foil]
Becky: "Ha! En garde! Ha! Water fencing!"
[She attempts to put the sword away, but instead pokes a hole in the floaty. It pops and sends her flying]
Sameer: "If only there was a sport we all liked."
[They all think, with their skateboards, and Ronnie Anne realizes]
Ronnie Anne: "You guys, I got it; skateboarding."
Casey: "Yeah, it takes just as much athletic ability as any sport."
Nikki: "Could a basketball player do this." [Goes offscreen, skates back, does a kickflip, but falls over] "Normally I nail that trick."
Ronnie Anne: "Come on, let's go tell Coach Crawford that we're starting the school's very first skateboarding team."[They go to do so. Ronnie Anne taps on the coach's shoulder] "Hey Coach."
Coach Crawford: [He spits his coffee out] "My coffee, and you got it on my whistle."
[He blows his whistle, getting coffee all over Sameer. Starts drinking it again]
Ronnie Anne: "We chose a team sport; skateboarding."
Coach Crawford: [Spits his coffee on Sameer again] "Skateboarding's not a sport, it's a nuisance, always zipping by making a ruckus with your dude this, dude that, disrespecting the rules. Where's the sportsmanship in that?"
Ronnie Anne: "We're not like that."
[They try to act cute]
Coach Crawford: "Oh, I think you are." [Takes out a book] "Besides, the rule book says you need at least six people, proper equipment, and matching uniforms."
[Drinks his coffee. The kids think]
Ronnie Anne: "Challenge accepted."
Coach Crawford: [Spits his coffee on Sameer again] "In that case, you need it all by tomorrow morning."
Nikki: "The rule book says that?"
Coach Crawford: "Yup, right there, good luck, if you fail, there's always dodgeball."
[Walks off, laughing]
Sameer: "We can't get all that by tomorrow."
Casey: "And, it sounds like he made all those rules up, just now."
Ronnie Anne: "But if we do everything he said, he can't say no to us. Come on. How great would it be to start our own team?"
Nikki: [In unison] "So rad."
Sameer: [In unison] "A dream come true."
Casey: [In unison] "Could be sweet."
Ronnie Anne: "Nothing's gonna get in our way." [Suddenly the whistle blows again, and the gang gets buried in dodgeballs] "Looks like the dodgeball team's filling up nicely."
[Later, the four of them are eating lunch]
Sameer: "How are we gonna find two more teammates by tomorrow?"
[Sid joins them and starts eating her burger]
Ronnie Anne: "I know how to find one of them." [To Sid] "Sid, I have awesome news."
Sid: "The lunch lady found the band-aid she lost in the mashed potatoes?"
[Which is what Ronnie Anne and the others are eating, they spit it out]
Ronnie Anne: "No, how would you like to be on our school's first skateboarding team?"
Sid: "But I can't skateboard. Remember?"
[Points to a flashback of the day she and Ronnie Anne first met, and Sid was trying to skateboard]
Flashback Ronnie Anne: "Show me what you got."
[Sid gets ready to go, but the board starts rolling backwards and rolls down the wrong side of the ramp, the girls panic and Ronnie Anne chases after her. Offscreen there's a crashing sound. Return to the present day]
Ronnie Anne: "Really? I remember you being great-ish, anyway, I'm a good teacher, I'll get you shredding in no time."
Sid: [Puts her burger in her backpack] "Then I'd better take my lunch to go cause it sounds like I have some skateboarding lessons."
[The gang walks off, and Laird pulls the lunch lady's bandage out of his mouth]
Laird: "I found it!" [The bandage is dirty] "What do I win!?"
[Outside, Sid is wearing a helmet, standing with her arms out and a breeze flowing through her hair]
Sid: "Am I shredding yet?"
[Revealed to actually just be standing still on the sidewalk]
Ronnie Anne: "Almost. Why don't we try it on the board now?" [Places a skateboard next to Sid and helps her on] "Now balance one foot on the board while pushing off with the other." [Sid does so and goes forward this time, albeit rather slow] "Yes! See? You're a natural. Wanna try a little faster now?"
Sid: "I'm comfortable with this speed."
Ronnie Anne: "Good enough welcome to the team."
Sid: "Wait, I have one condition. Can I also be the team mascot? I'm thinking it should be..."
Sid & Ronnie Anne: "A hotdog."
Ronnie Anne: "Wow! Great minds think alike." [They high five, and Sid starts rolling away. To Sameer, Nikki, and Casey] "Now, we only need one more skater, we could hold tryouts."
Nikki: "Brilliant."
Casey: "Sweet!"
Sameer: "Woohoo!"
[The four of them head off. Offscreen, Sid crashes into a mailbox]
Sid: [Spits paper out of her mouth] "I'll catch up with ya."
[The next morning, they have a booth ready to hold tryouts, and Sid is deciding whether to put a yellow or red tie on her hotdog]
Sid: "Hmm, ketchup or mustard? Both."
[Meanwhile, the others are at the booth]
Ronnie Anne: "Tryout for the skateboarding team and get a free taco!" [Removes a sheet from a cupcake tower full of tacos. Suddenly there's a rumble and Ronnie Anne's friends make a run for it] "Woah, uh, single-file line please."
[But all her fellow students heard was free tacos, and form a fight cloud over them, which Becky jumps out of]
Becky: "You guys should start a taco making team, cause these are amazing."
Ronnie Anne: [Pops out of the fight cloud] "Thanks, my abuela made them." [Jumps out] "Now, who wants to try out for the skateboarding team?"
[The fight cloud stops, and every kid, who's had their taco, flees. Laird walks up]
Laird: "Hey guys, am I too late?"
Ronnie Anne: "Yes, we're all out of tacos, Laird."
Laird: "Oh, okay, can I still tryout?"
Ronnie Anne: "You actually wanna be on the team?"
Laird: "Yeah, I'm an awesome skater."
[Takes out a board and shows them. He is a very impressive skater]
Ronnie Anne: "You look great, you're in. Guys! We did it! We got our uniforms, out gear, and our sixth teammate."
Laird: "There's just one part I can't nail down."
Ronnie Anne: "What's that?"
Laird: "Stopping!"
[Offscreen he crashes. His board returns, along with his broken glasses]
[In the gym, Coach Crawford is drinking his coffee, when suddenly the lights go out, and spotlights come on]
Ronnie Anne: "Coach Crawford, introducing the Chavez Acadamy's new... skateboarding team!"
[From a huge paper 'Skate Team' banner, striking skateboard poses as they enter, comes Ronnie Anne, Casey, Nikki, Sameer, and Laird]
Sid: [Emerges from the shadows in her hotdog costume] "And your new delicious mascot!"
[Sid has a hotdog blaster and fires one. It lands in coach's coffee]
Coach Crawford: "Always while I'm having my coffee."
[The team skate around Coach, playing cool]
Ronnie Anne: "We did everything you said; we have players, equipment, and uniforms."
Coach Crawford: "Oh, you sure did. But, uh, I forgot to mention one thing, the rulebook states you have to win a qualifier match to officially be a team." [The team can't believe this] "I'll arrange for a match after school today." [Writes on a card] "Here's the address, if you win you have a team, if not, pick another sport and leave me alone already." [Dips the hotdog in his coffee, eats it, and walks off]
Nikki: "This is crazy, we're not prepared."
Casey: "We haven't had a single practice."
Ronnie Anne: "Come on guys, we've come this far, we can win this thing. We just gotta do what we do best, skate out hearts out."
[Her friends agree]
Sid: "I already figured out how to go faster, with my hotdog blaster."
[Fires a few hotdogs, giving herself speed, one lands in Laird's hands]
Laird: "That's what I call fast food. Am I right?"
[Laughs at his joke, but the others aren't very amused]
[Near the end of the school, Ronnie Anne is looking at the clock]
Ronnie Anne: "School's over in three... two... one..." [The bell rings and Ronnie Anne hurries out of class, she runs down the hall and almost bumps into Sid] "Sid, where is everyone?"
Sid: "Bad news, Sameer and Nikki were put on dishwashing duty for vandalizing the principal's portrait." [In the trophy case, the principal's portrait has been doodled on, some kids walk by and laugh] "They swear they didn't do it, but now they can't leave until all the plates in the cafeteria are clean."
Ronnie Anne: "Oh-no, what about Casey and Laird?"
Sid: "They got detention for putting gum under the desks in Ms. Galiano's, but they're innocent too."
Ronnie Anne: "This can't be happening, the match starts soon. You go help Sameer and Nikki in the cafeteria, I'll bust Laird and Casey out of detention."
Sid: "On it!"
[They head off in different directions. In Mrs. Galiano's class, Casey and Laird are sitting, bored, and Ms. Galiano is trying to take a selfie, Ronnie Anne comes in]
Mrs. Galiano: "Ronnie Anne! No photobombing." [Sees the photo] "Oh, my eyes were closed anyway."
Ronnie Anne: "You gotta let Casey and Laird out of detention." [Casey and Laird clasp their hands] "Look at them." [they all make sad eyes] they're innocent."
Casey: "We were framed."
Laird: "Yeah."
Mrs. Galiano: [Tries to take another selfie] "Sorry kids, can't help you." [Sees the selfie; disappointed] "Oh, again."
[She tries again, and Ronnie Anne comes up to her]
Ronnie Anne: "What if they scrape the gum off all the desks?"
Mrs. Galiano: "I don't know."
Ronnie Anne: "I can throw in some selfie tips."
Mrs. Galiano: [Thinks, and shakes Ronnie Anne's hand] "Deal."
[Ronnie Anne gives Casey and Laird a thumbs up, they get their scrapers out and get scraping. Casey tosses a wad into the air, and it fades to a plate being tossed up, and caught by Nikki, who wipes all the food still on the plate into the garbage, tosses it to Sameer who washes it, and tosses it to Sid who dries it and puts it away. Back in the classroom, Casey and Laird use their skateboards to get under the desks faster and throw out all the gum]
Ronnie Anne: "Let's start with the basics, first, the duck face." [Ronnie Anne demonstrates, Mrs. Galiano tries, with her own version of it. Meanwhile, Casey and Laird are getting all the gum as fast as they can roll under the desks, and continue throwing it out. Back in the cafeteria, Nikki grunts, she grabs two plates and whips the food scraps into the bin, she tosses them both to Sameer, he washes them quickly, tosses them to Sid, and she waves them around to dry them. Back in the classroom] "Now let's try a fun filter."
Mrs. Galiano: "Filters?" [Ronnie Anne turns one on] "Oh, I look cute as a puppy."
[Casey and Laird get the last of the gum. And Ronnie Anne holds up a makeshift selfie stick]
Ronnie Anne: "And lastly, a selfie stick gives you the perfect angle. Here, I made this one out of school supplies."
Mrs. Galiano: "Ooh, I look fabulous, work it, Galiano! Everyone's dismissed."
[The kids race off]
Ronnie Anne: "That was a bizarre detour, but we can still make it to the match if we hurry."
[The team meets up in the hall and they set off. They skate through the park, Casey builds up speed and does a one-eighty turn. Sameer passes him with a rail grind over a wall. Sid uses her hotdog blaster to build speed for herself, Casey, Sameer, and Ronnie Anne. Laird follows them and does a hippie jump over the bench and jumps back on into a handstand. Finally, Nikki does a rail grind over the fountain and dismounts with a kickflip]
Nikki: "Whoo!"
[They continue riding, and jump over a bench. Sid shoots her last hotdog, it lands in Ninja's mouth]
Sid: "We need more hotdogs!"
[Later, they are all sitting on the curb next to Bruno's hotdog cart, when Ronnie Anne remembers something]
Ronnie Anne: "Aren't we supposed to be somewhere?"
[They get back to skating, and ride along the sidewalk together. Ronnie Anne does a rail grind over the subway entrance, her friends cheer for her and they continue skating. Eventually, they make it to the address, Ronnie Anne, Sameer, Casey, Nikki, and Sid stop]
Sameer: "Made it with two minutes to spare."
Ronnie Anne: "Where's the other team?"
[Suddenly, Laird skates past them into the building, he comes out with a beehive hairdo]
Laird: "My hair!"
Nikki: [Realizes where they are] "Wait a minute, this is a hair salon!"
[Points at the sign for 'Margarita's Beauty']
Laird: "Oh, now it makes sense."
Ronnie Anne: "Hold on a second, let me check the address." [She's holding Margarita's business card, with the name crossed out, but not the address, and 'SKATEBOARD TOURNAMENT' written on the card. Ronnie Anne moves her thumb revealing 'Hee Hee!' written on the card as well. Ronnie Anne gasps] "Coach Crawford tricked us!"
[Back at the school, Coach is having his coffee in the gym again, when suddenly...]
Ronnie Anne: "Hey! Coach C!" [Coach spits his coffee on Sameer again] "You gave us a bogus address!"
Sameer: "I bet you were the one who vandalized the principal's portrait."
[Flashback to Coach Crawford doing so and snickering. End flashback]
Casey: "And put the gum under the desks!"
[Flashback to Coach Crawford doing that and snickering again. End flashback]
Laird: "And flunked my math test!" [Flashback to Coach Crawford failing Laird's math test, but his head turns into Laird's] "No you're right, that was me."
Nikki: [Seeing the book in Coach's hand] "I bet that's not even a rule book." [Snatche it from him and looks] "I knew it! It's a crossword puzzle book!"
Casey: [Looks at it] "And all the answers are wrong!"
[Coach Crawford is at a loss for words]
Ronnie Anne: "I see what this was all about, you weren't gonna give us a team no matter what we did."
Coach Crawford: "Uh..." [Can't think of anything] "You're right." [The kids start yelling at him until he blows his whistle] "Hang on, I'm not done, I didn't wanna give you a team because I thought skater kids were a bunch of noisy slackers, but what you guys did today proved me wrong, you got heart, you got grit, and you got a hotdog, my favourite food." [Laughs] "You can have your team!"
Ronnie Anne: [Who wasn't listening] "Well we're not leaving until we have our team!"
Casey: "Uh, I think he just said we got it."
Ronnie Anne: "He did?" [Everyone nods and Ronnie Anne jumps] "Yes!"
[The skate team is official, and the kids have a real practice]
Coach Crawford: "That's some nice skating kids." [Drinks his coffee] "Some nice coffee too." [Suddenly Laird skates into him, the rest of the team comes to see if they're okay] "Somebody please teach this kid how to stop!"
Laird: [Dazed] "Yes, please."
