Episode Information

"The Guy Who Makes You Fly" is the seventh episode of the first season of The Really Loud House.

Plot[]

Lincoln decides to tap out of his brotherly duties and go on a vacation. Clyde Clyde steps in to take on Lincoln’s role in the family, at first everything goes great, until tides turn and Clyde has to call on Lincoln for help.

Synopsis[]

Act I[]

It's the end of school on Friday, and Lincoln and Clyde are planning a big weekend sleepover at the Loud House. However, Lincoln reveals that he needs a vacation from his family, so he is intending to spend the weekend at Aunt Ruth's cabin. As they enter the Loud House, they discover that Leni has brought her boyfriend, Chase, for a study session for a big test, but Chase is constantly being distracted by Lynn Sr., Luna is working on a song, and Lynn is trying to stop herself from trash-talking her sports opponents.

Clyde believes being the Man with the Plan is relatively easy, but Lincoln insists it is not as easy as it looks. They make a bet that Clyde replaces Lincoln as the Man with the Plan over the weekend, and if Clyde still believes it is easy, they will have another sleepover while doing everything in Clyde's itinerary. Once the deal is made, Clyde inherits Lincoln's fourth wall-breaking powers, and Lincoln heads off on vacation.

Act II[]

The next day, Clyde wakes up in Lincoln's bedroom with a list of possible Man with the Plan-esque nicknames, confident he can solve the Louds' problems. He catches Lynn trash-talking Lola in the bathroom and tells her she can instead give her opponents toxic positivity. When he needs to go to the bathroom, Lynn informs him they have a number system for the bathroom.

While waiting, Clyde attempts to help Luna with writing a song to put on SongCloud, deciding to introduce conflict into her life for inspiration. Once he uses the bathroom, he informs Rita that Luna left the cap off the toothpaste and her room is also messy. Angered, Rita enters Luna's room and gets in an argument with Luna over cleaning the room and leaving the cap off the toothpaste, giving Luna inspiration for a new song.

Downstairs, Leni and Chase are still studying when Lynn Sr. requests his help in making quesadillas named in his honor. Clyde explains to the viewers that Chase and Lynn Sr. have had a long-lasting friendship, to the point that they never want to say goodbye. As Chase leaves, Leni complains that Chase only wants to spend time with Lynn Sr., to which Clyde tells her to be honest with Chase.

With his problems seemingly solved, Clyde calls Lincoln about his accomplishments. However, he is forced to hang up with Luna yells at him. She explains that while she did write a song, "You Put the Cap Back On", based on her conflict, it has since gained negative reception on SongCloud. Clyde attempts to fix Luna's issue, but Leni arrives and explains Chase is breaking up with her, much to her and Lynn Sr.'s horror.

Act III[]

As the Louds turn on each other, Clyde sheepishly exits the Loud House to think. He is suddenly interrupted by a Hot and Fast delivery carrier, Julie, who is delivering snacks to the attic. Entering the attic, Clyde discovers that Lincoln has been hiding in the attic all along and informs him of the escalating problems in the house, apologizing for being a failure as a Man with the Plan. Lincoln reassures that Clyde is actually the Man with the Plan's assistant, the "guy who makes [him] fly".

The boys regroup in Lincoln's room and plan to get Chase back into the house, fix Leni, Chase, and Lynn Sr.'s love triangle by introducing another person, and write a new song for Luna that can get better reception. They find someone present at every Doo Dads conference as the one to fix the love triangle, and put their plan into notion. Leni and Lynn Sr. meet at the base of the stairs, still furious at each other, but Clyde leads a blindfolded Chase to the house, and Luna sings a ballad written by Lincoln and Clyde that helps Leni and Chase rekindle their relationship. The Doo Dads fan also shows up and reveals himself to be Chase's father, Chase Sr., who has a similar knack for nicknaming and ends up bonding with Lynn Sr. Clyde also cleans up Luna's room, much to Rita's approval.

Lincoln and Clyde celebrate their accomplishment on the front porch, with Lincoln regaining his fourth wall-breaking powers. Just then, Lynn shows up, angry that Clyde's "toxic positivity" did not work, so the boys instead relax in the attic.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first Really Loud House episode to premiere in 2023.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • The Louds recently started taking numbers to go to the bathroom, possibly as a means to de-choke the line for the bathroom frequently shown in the animated series.
    • Clyde's fathers take a writing course at the learning annex, and their teacher always tells them that great writing stems from a great conflict.
    • Luna always forgets to put the cap back on the toothpaste tube.
    • Luna refuses to clean her room and is so reliant on her mother to clean it for her, she even went so far as to think of her as her maid.
    • Whenever Lincoln needs a break from his family, he lies that he is going to Aunt Ruth's cabin when he actually hides away in the attic.
    • Lincoln bought walkie-talkies for himself and Clyde because he is dependent on the latter whenever he has a problem to solve.
    • Lincoln recently installed a computer under his mattress.
  • Clyde providing an itinerary for his and Lincoln's sleepover is similar to how Lincoln did the same thing in the Loud House episode "Overnight Success".
    • Soon after Clyde shows Lincoln the itinerary, Lincoln says that although he is excited for the sleepover, he needs a vacation from the craziness in his family, possibly alluding to how his sisters interfered with his plans in said episode.
  • The second act of this episode has a similar opening to the first act of "The Macho Man with the Plan", but with the main difference being Clyde in Lincoln's place.
  • The premise of this episode is similar to that of the Loud House episode "Baby Steps", as both involve Clyde trying to develop the skills to help out Lincoln's sisters, but soon discovering that it is tougher than it looks. One difference is that Clyde focused on helping Lincoln's younger sisters in "Baby Steps", while he focuses mainly on helping Lincoln's older sisters (sans Lori and Luan, who are absent) in this episode.
    • However, unlike in "Baby Steps", Clyde likely did not aim to focus specifically on helping Lincoln's older sisters, since all of his younger sisters are absent from this episode.
  • One of the comments on Luna's music video calls her "Luna Lame", possibly referencing Chandler's nickname for Lincoln, Lincoln Lame.
  • Clyde delivers himself to Lincoln with Hot and Fast, the same company that Lincoln used to deliver his father's figgy pudding to Fairway University in A Loud House Christmas.
    • Coincidentally, Rita's decorative rooftop Santa from the film is visible in the attic.
  • Luan's yellow sequin dress from "The Manager with the Planager" is visible on the clothing rack in Luna and Luan's room.
  • Jahzir Bruno considers this to be his personal favorite episode.[1]
  • This marks the first time in the franchise when Ace Savvy and David Steele are both depicted in the present. In the animated series, Ace Savvy's appearances were restricted to flashbacks and mentions to the past after the introduction of David Steele in "Family Bonding" (which, coincidentally, was the only other episode to depict both franchises at the time this episode aired, albeit with Ace Savvy in a flashback and David Steele in the present) until "Road Trip: Bizarritorium", barring the Ace Savvy poster in Lincoln's bedroom.
  • This episode likely takes place in September or January, as Leni mentions that her test is worth 60% of her grade, indicating that it may have been the first major grade of the semester.
  • Irony: When Leni asks Chase to focus on something other than nicknames for Lynn Sr., he says that he is okay with it, so long as it is also okay with "the Lynn-surance man".
  • Foreshadowing: Lincoln is depicted in front of a fake background when Clyde calls him, indicating that he was not actually at Ruth's cabin the whole time.

References[]

  • Batman - Chase refers to Lincoln and Clyde as the Dynamic Duo, the collective nickname for Batman and Robin.
  • SoundCloud - Luna mentions that she told her fans she will post a new song on SongCloud, referencing this music sharing website.
  • The Notorious B.I.G. - At one point, Chase calls Lynn Sr. by the nickname "Notorious D.A.D.", referencing this rapper.
  • Mission: Impossible - At one point, Chase calls Lynn Sr. by the nickname "Mission Lynn-possible", referencing this 1996 spy film.
  • Jeff Silbar and Larry Henley - At one point, Lincoln references this 1982 song "Wind Beneath My Wings".
  • The Incredibles - Chase Sr. calls Lynn Sr. by the nickname "Mr. Lynn-credible", referencing the heroic alter ego of Bob Parr, the protagonist of this 2004 animated Pixar film.

Product placement[]

  • GeoSafari - While trying to explain the pun behind his nickname, "The Fella Who's Stella", Clyde uses a motorized solar system model from this brand of educational toys.
  • Apple Inc. - Luna is seen using a Mac iBook G4.
  • Flying Eagle - The plane lodged in the tree is from this brand.

Errors[]

  • When Luna asks, "You ever wonder why Mick Swagger never wrote a song about his mom telling him to put the cap back on the toothpaste?", Mick's name is erroneously spelled in the closed captions as "McSwagger".
  • Lincoln's diagram of the hypothetical love square that would form as a result of introducing another person (later revealed to be Chase Sr.) into the love triangle between Lynn Sr., Leni, and Chase shows a linkage between Leni and the other person, even though the plan did not involve hooking the two of them up together.
