The Morticians Club plan Bertrand's escape from the cruise ship his parents work on.
Synopsis[]
A message from Bertrand.
At the Royal Woods Cemetery, Lucy and the Mortician's Club is holding a meeting (this time, in the morning, due to it being urgent). Lucy tells her fellow members that she just got a message from Bertrand, their former leader, asking them for their help in rescuing him. When the members question how they're going to rescue him, since he's on a cruise ship his parents work on, Lucy informs them that the cruise will be docking at Lake Eddy for 24 hours to restock on supplies, and if they don't rescue him, they won't see him for another year.
At Lake Eddy, the S.S. Fun Times cruise ship is stationed at the dock. As the Mortician's Club spy behind a light pole, Lucy says that the only way to get on is with a ticket, to which they need to give to Kim, Bertrand's mother and head of security. As the club questions how they could get tickets, a pelican, which Bertrand has used to deliver his message for help earlier, arrives and hurls out six tickets. Immediately, the club uses those six tickets to gain access to the ship. Once onboard, the club runs into Bertrand, whose skin is now completely suntanned (except for the area around his eyes). Taking them to his room, Bertrand laments that he's having a horrible time on the cruise because of the upbeat energy of the guests and is unable to tell his parents about his feelings because they wouldn't understand. As the club begins to plan out how to get Bertrand off the ship, Lucy suggests that if they can't exit the ship normally, they can sneak him out.
What follows afterwards is the club trying to sneak Bertrand off the ship, with unsuccessful results:
First, the club ties Bertrand to the pelican so that it can fly him to shore. At first, the plan seems to work out, but the pelican spots a fish in the water, causing it to dive down and plunge Bertrand into the water, where he's promptly rescued by Brad, his father who's a lifeguard.
Second, the club tries to sneak Bertrand off the cruise by hiding him in a coffin while giving off the impression that someone died after a shuffleboard incident. However, the pelican lands in the pool and causes some water to splash onto the deck, making the club slip and drop the coffin into the water, where he's once again saved by Brad.
Lastly, the club douses "SPF 1001" sunscreen onto Bertrand so that when he slides down the water slide, he'll be slick enough to launch himself off the ship. However, while it appears that Bertrand will make it off the ship, he runs into the pelican, breaking his momentum and falling into the water, where he begins to ride on a dolphin.
The Morticians Club's plan to cancel the cruise.
With all of their escape plans foiled, Bertrand declares that it's a lost cause, and says there's no way to get off by now. When Boris questions if this means the conga line (which he had been looking forward to) will be canceled, Bertrand realizes that if they can't escape the ship, they can get it canceled and decide to do it in the best way they can: by scaring everyone. When night comes, the club proceeds to scare the living daylights out of everyone on the ship, hoping that they'll flee and make the ship unable to depart.
The next day, the club wakes up after their night of hard work, and enter the dining hall, hoping everyone would be gone. Unfortunately, to their dismay, everyone on the cruise is still present, and one of the guests reveals that they thought their actions were nothing more than a performance piece meant to excite them. To make matters worse, Kim and Brad loved the club's "performance" so much, that they decided to add another year to their extension, meaning that the club won't see Bertrand for two years now. Realizing they made the situation worse, the club apologizes to Bertrand, but he tells them not to worry and to leave to save themselves. However, Lucy finally decides to speak up and tells Kim and Brad that their "performance" was meant to get the cruise canceled, saying that Bertrand isn't actually having fun and wants to be with his friends instead. Realizing how much they didn't take his feelings into account, Kim and Brad tell Bertrand that he can live with his aunt in Royal Woods, to which Bertrand gladly accepts. Seeing how everyone has a good resolution now, Kim and Brad decide to celebrate with a conga line, to which the club enjoys partaking in.
Lincoln appears on the title card as one of the bolts on the lower-right corner of the porthole frame.
This episode takes place after "A Grave Mistake", as it brings up how Bertrand was forced to step down as leader of the Mortician's Club due to his father getting a job on a cruise ship.
Coincidentally, this episode uses the same title card music as the aforementioned episode and is also written by Whitney Wetta.
It also suggests that it takes place one year after, as Bertrand mentions that once a year, the cruise docks at Lake Eddy to restock on supplies.
This is the second episode to take place at Lake Eddy, after "Washed Up".
This episode reveals that Bertrand has an aunt named Madeline that lives in Royal Woods, and he's never heard of her because his parents describe her as a "super positive life coach."
