Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode since "The Other Man with Way Better Plans" to use the 15-second intro.
  • The group shot from the series' intro is visible on a computer screen.
  • This marks the first appearance of Charles in the live-action universe.
    • However, his existence was previously confirmed by Lincoln picking up his poop in A Loud House Christmas and his leash appearing as a prop in various episodes.
  • Alexa Jordan convincing the students attending her public speaking that a dream of becoming famous is unattainable is similar to Joan Shivers convincing Luan to abandon her comedy strategies in "The Manager with the Planager". Likewise, Clyde getting stuck behind Lincoln's bedroom door when he had put a desk behind it is similar to how he did the same in the aforementioned episode.
    • Coincidentally, both episodes involve Lincoln adopting a new nickname (taken from the episode's title) to match his business at the time.
  • This episode reveals the following:
    • Lincoln has a friend named Barry.
    • Lisa knows how to ride a bicycle.
    • Rita is strong enough to bend metal.
    • When Lynn was a baby, her total height was about two inches below the current height of her knee.
    • Lily strives to become an astronaut.
      • This further confirms that she has decided to follow Lisa's dream of her becoming the next scientist in the family from "The Chore Thing".
  • When Lily removes her astronaut helmet, her hair is in August Michael Peterson's natural hairstyle.
  • Innuendo: Luan mentions that she got fired from her mock flight attendant job on the Gigglin' Geezer because she "was killing... literally." During the ride that got her fired, she had knocked over two oxygen tanks belonging to senior citizens who needed oxygen tubes, implying that they specifically were confirmed casualties.
  • Irony:
    • Lynn Sr. following the universe by saying the he will do something by not doing it is a self-contradictory statement that prompts Rita to do tasks that she had intended to give her husband.
      • Additionally, she learned to embrace the power of nothingness by the time Lynn decided that her true destiny is within, leaving Luna and Luan to decide the same thing without the need for interference.
    • Angie interpreted Clyde asking her what she wanted to do on their first date as a humorous way to hide his plans, and Clyde played along despite not having any plans at all, prompting him to rush to Lincoln for a plan.
      • Additionally, he arrived at Lincoln's office without reading the sign on the door, causing him to find out the hard way that Lincoln had changed his nickname and profession from "The Man with the Plan" to "The Man with the Backup Plan".
    • Lincoln read his invitation to get a backup plan from him exactly as he wrote it on his notepad, despite Lynn, Luna and Luan answering his questions the opposite way he had anticipated.
      • While they eventually did end up needing Lincoln's services when Lisa had concluded from a mathematical test that their dreams are unattainable, they carried their prior knowledge over into their new jobs, causing them all to get fired.
    • One of Luan's jokes she told aboard the Gigglin' Geezer was, "And if you have oxygen, make sure to put on your mask before helping others." Two of the seniors sitting close to her did have oxygen supplements, albeit in the form of tubes, rather than masks.
    • The advice the twins gave to Clyde constantly relied on keeping balance, which confused Clyde to the point where he could not balance the attention he gave to Angie sufficiently.
    • Lisa and Clyde, being Lincoln's only clients when he first opened his backup plan business, ended up being his only clients who did not fail because of his advice.
  • Foreshadowing: When Lynn shares some test results garnered by Alexa Jordan that claim a person cannot truly fulfill their dreams of fame with Lisa, Lisa claims that the numbers are hard to argue with. Later in the episode, she runs the numbers with Todd, who likewise concludes that their dreams of fame are unattainable.
  • Lincoln's voice started to deepen in this episode, due to Wolfgang Schaeffer hitting puberty.

References[]

  • Kung Fu Panda - Lucy comparing her mind to water is similar to a scene in this 2008 DreamWorks animated film where Master Oogway explains that the mind is similar to water in that it becomes difficult to see when agitated, but clear if allowed to settle.
  • Treulich geführt - Luna plays an electric guitar rendition of this 1850 song from the opera Lohengrin composed by Richard Wagner.

Product placement[]

  • Froot Loops - A box of this brand of breakfast cereal manufactured by Kellogg's is visible on the kitchen counter. (The box is generically labeled "Fruit Cereal" for trademark reasons.)
  • Cap'n Crunch - A box of the Oops! All Berries variant of this brand of breakfast cereal manufactured by the Quaker Oats Company is visible on the kitchen counter. (The box is generically labeled "Big Cereal" for trademark reasons.)

Errors[]

  • During the kitchen fight scene, a carton of milk appears on the corner closest to Luan when she fights over a box of frosted cereal with Lisa, despite not having been there when she checked the refrigerator. When Luna pushes the boxes of fruity cereal off the counter, the milk carton appears close to Lucy, despite her being on the opposite side of the counter. It later appears closer to Lucy, despite Lisa having taken it away in a previous shot.
