[The episode starts with a ThumbZ Stream opening, which diagonally splits to reveal the eponymous streamer streaming live on Glitch Stream.] ThumbZ: "What's up, game fam? It's your boy, ThumbZ, AKA the Gaming GOAT, AKA Slayer of the Sticks! And I'm inviting you to a special contest." [The screen pans out to reveal Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara are watching ThumbZ's stream on Lincoln's laptop. They all get excited.] "First player to finish a speedrun in my classic game, Space Snowmen, wins a trip with two friends to ThumbZ HQ..." [Fireworks burst as ThumbZ reveals his HQ.] "...where you'll get to beta test my new, top secret game." Lincoln: "Wow! A chance to meet ThumbZ, and play his newest game?" Lincoln and Clyde: "Best day EVER!" [They scat and bump their butts, to Kara's confusion.] Kara: "I'm gonna sit this one out. Thanks for inviting me over to game, though. It's super cool that you guys are fellow fans of ThumbZ." Lincoln: "Actually, Kara, we were kinda wondering... Would you want to join the 'Button-Mashing Buds'?" Kara: "Uh, I don't know what that is." Clyde: "Oh, right, it's our gaming team." Kara:[thinks] "Hmm, I mean, the name needs work, but... I usually game solo, so it could be cool to be on a team." Lincoln: "Great! Button-Mashing Buds, initiate pregame ritual!" [He and Clyde high-five, preparing their ritual.] Clyde:[He reveals a container of...] "Peanut butter protein balls to keep our energy levels up. Check." Lincoln:[He has a dispenser of...] "Finger fuel." [He squirts some on his hands.] "The official anti-controller-cramping cream of gamers everywhere!" Clyde:[He puts in his hand, which has some lotion.] "Hands in!" [Lincoln stacks his hand on Clyde's, but they notice that Kara has already put on her headphones and started up her laptop.] Lincoln and Clyde: "Break!" [They grab their headphones and laptops.] ThumbZ: "I hope you've all brought your A-game! We've got 50,000 players on the live stream right now, and it's about to go down in real time! Thumbs up, and ThumbZ out!" [He reveals a remote control and presses a button, and a jetpack on his back fires up and launches him away. The screen splits, revealing Kara, Lincoln, and Clyde narrowing their eyes. The word "Start" appears, and the game begins. The three of them have their Space Snowmen characters running together.] Lincoln: "Clyde! Try ice steam on that door!" [Clyde's avatar fires a cloud of ice on a door, and they jump onto its platform, following the path. They leap over a penguin UFO and onto a slippery slope.] Clyde: "I'll protect you with a snow shield!" [His character slides down the slope, leaving a cloud of snow to cover Lincoln and Kara's characters.] Lincoln:[wipes away sweat] "Phew. I need protein, stat!" Clyde: "I got ya, buddy!" [He tosses a peanut butter ball into Lincoln's mouth, and they continue playing. But then, Clyde's hand cramps up.] "Ooh, finger cramp! Hit me, Lincoln!" [Lincoln pounds on the finger fuel dispenser, squirting some onto Clyde's hand, making it better.] "Ooh, thanks, bud." [resumes gaming] Lincoln: "Hey Kara, how you doing over--" Kara: "Done!" [She grins at her teammates in satisfaction.] Lincoln: "Huh? Already?" [He and Clyde glance at Kara's laptop, and sure enough, her character stands at the top of the icy mountain, having won the speedrun contest.] ThumbZ: "We have a winner!" [The screen cuts to ThumbZ landing on the ground.] "Congrats to gamertag '24karagold'! I'll be sending over permission slips for you and two friends to come meet me tomorrow!" [He blasts off, and the stream ends. Lincoln and Clyde are pleased.] Lincoln:[takes off his headphones] "Button-Mashing Buds strike again!" [He and Clyde rush off and perform their butt bump again, and then they look at Kara expectantly.] Kara: "Eh, why not." [She takes off her headphones and stands on the couch with them, and the three of them resume their butt bumping. Lincoln and Clyde bump their butts as the scene transition.]
[The next day, the three friends arrive at ThumbZ Pad on their bicycles. They come to a stop by a white van near the front, dismounting from their bikes and placing their helmets down. As they approach the door, a mechanical hand comes out from a spot on the wall.] ThumbZ:[He speaks via speaker, and the hand motions as it speaks.]"Welcome to the Thumb Pad, Kara, Lincoln, and Clyde." [The hand gives a thumbs up.] Clyde: "Sounds like we're in the right place!" [grabs his phone] "I should drop a pin for my dads now that we're here." [Kara eagerly dashes past the boys and into the revolving door, spinning them around like tops. They get dragged into the door and spun around inside it as well.] Kara: "Whoa!" [ThumbZ's pad has two computer desks, several beanbag chairs, and two swirly slides coming out of a room at the other end. There's also a fountain of ThumbZ's likeness and several posters of ThumbZ. Lincoln and Clyde come out of the revolving door, quite dizzy, and they collapse beside Kara.] "Isn't this place amazing?" ???:[offscreen] "Hey!" [The Button-Mashing Buds get confused, but then two figures come down one of the slides. They are revealed as masked thieves, and they run off with a duffel bag. They dash straight toward Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara, but they crash into them. The duffel bag falls, and the Button-Mashing Buds notice a flash drive with ThumbZ's initials on it. One of the thieves grabs it and places it back inside the bag, and they hurry out of the building. They run into the van and quickly drive away.] ThumbZ:[offscreen] "Help!" [Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara look up at the room the thieves came from.] "Help me!" [The camera zooms in on the door, which has a thumb print symbol on it. The three of them run up the stairs and into the room.] "They stole my game!" [ThumbZ is shown in a chair, which turns around to reveal him tied up with a wired controller.] Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara:[shocked] "ThumbZ!" [They approach him.] Clyde: "Those masked guys, who were they?" ThumbZ: "No doubt my competitors. They've always been jealous of my success, and now they're trying to release my new game as their own. You three are my only hope. You've got to go after those thieves and get my game back! It's stored on a flash drive." [Clyde and Kara gasp, and then they and Lincoln smile.] Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara:[They give ThumbZ a thumbs-up.] "We're in!" ThumbZ: "Great! I have rocket boosters on my research development wall." [He reaches for a button with his tongue and presses it. The camera pans to a wall of trophies and awards, which flips over to reveal a bunch of gaming items. Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara run up to it.] "Right below the flamethrower." [The camera pans to three rocket boosters, and Lincoln grabs them.] Lincoln: "Got 'em! Let's roll!" [Kara gives a thumbs up, and the three of them dash away.]
[Outside, Lincoln is investigating the van's tire tracks.] Lincoln: "These tire marks are headed east." [He runs to his bike, which is next to Clyde's. Both of which have a rocket booster fitted to them.] "On my signal, we ride." [They press the buttons on their rockets, and they fire up, emitting flames. They get ready to ride.] "Ready, set..." Kara:[rockets past them] "GOOO!" Lincoln: "Kara, wait!" [The boys follow her.] [The thieves' van drives along, but the passenger notices something.] Thief 1: "Huh?" [He looks back and notices Kara riding up next to them, with Lincoln and Clyde catching up. In response, he opens the side door and spills a barrel of oil onto the sidewalk, cackling. Kara grunts and jumps her bike over the oil slick, but Lincoln gasps and swerves around it.] Clyde:[Unfortunately, he rolls right into it and spins out of control.] "AAAHHHH!" [Kara reaches for the van, but it swerves away from her and heads into the woods. She and Lincoln stop, but Clyde is still spinning and he crashes into them.] Clyde: "Sorry." Kara:[She and the boys stand up.] "They're gonna have to do better than that if they want to shake me." [grabs her bike] "Come on, guys." [She pedals after the thieves, using her rocket bike, but leaving her friends behind. Lincoln and Clyde follow her.]
[The three of them ride up to the thieves' van, which has stopped. Kara grabs the door and is about to open it, but Lincoln tries to stop her.] Lincoln: "Careful. We don't know what's on the other side of this door." Kara: "Only one way to find out." [Lincoln cringes as Kara opens the door without hesitation. But as they look inside, all they can see is a stuffed bear with a kitchen timer. The timer dings as they gasp, and the bear explodes, blasting them with honey.] Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara:[disgusted] "Ugh." Clyde: "Is this...honey?" Lincoln: "Why would the thieves spray us with honey?" [A low growling noise is heard, and the camera pans out to reveal a bear. The three of them scream and run into the van, closing its door. The bear scratches against the van, leaving Lincoln and Clyde frightened as it shakes.] Kara: "Come on, we've got to keep after them!" Lincoln: "If the three of us put our heads together, we can come up with a plan to distract the bear and slip off." Clyde: "Good thinkin', Lincoln." Kara: "Eh, my gut says we can outrun him." [She runs over to the back door and kicks it open.] "Hi-yah!" [She jumps out in a flip, surprising Lincoln and Clyde.] Lincoln and Clyde: "Huh?" [The bear comes around and roars at the boys, and they scream.] Clyde:[holds out a peanut butter ball; nervously] "Hey, want a protein ball?" [The bear barks and pants excitedly like a puppy.] "Go get it!" [He throws it, and the bear runs after it, then Lincoln and Clyde hurry after Kara.] [Kara runs out from behind a bush, but as Lincoln follows her, he's getting tired.] Lincoln:[wearily] "Kara... I think...we have a better chance..." [He and Clyde approach Kara, tired.] "...of finding these guys if..." [pants] "...we got on the same page." Kara: "Look down." [Sure enough, there are footprints on the ground.] Clyde: "Boot prints!" Kara: "We're on the right track!" [She runs off eagerly, annoying Lincoln and Clyde.] Lincoln: "Ugh, there she goes again. Come on." [He and Clyde follow her.]
[The three of them follow the footprints, but Kara stops and gasps. They are at a broken bridge over a raging river. Lincoln looks around and notices a nearby pine tree.] Lincoln: "Hmm... We can use that tree to catapult us to the other side. If we work together, we might have a chance." [Lincoln and Clyde lasso the top of the tree using a vine and pull it down to them, with it tied around Lincoln's waist.] "Okay, hop on, Clyde!" [Clyde gets on the tree.] Clyde: "Huh! Ready for liftoff!" Lincoln: "See what teamwork can do--" Kara:[She swings on another vine.] "Wahooooo!" [She gets across the river and hurries off again.] Lincoln:[groans, frustrated] "KARA!" [But he has released the lasso, and the tree launches Clyde across the river, screaming.] "WOULD YOU STOP DOING THAT?!" [The lasso pulls him with it, launching him too.] "WHOA!" [As Kara approaches a rocky cliff, Lincoln and Clyde scream as they land beside her, and she cringes at their fall. Lincoln and Clyde stand up.] Clyde: "How are we supposed to get up there?" [They stare at the top of the cliff, and a bird screech is heard. Sure enough, Kara runs up the cliffside on her own, and she begins climbing it to Clyde's annoyance.] "Apparently not with teamwork." [He and Lincoln are fed up with Kara's neglect.] [Once Lincoln and Clyde finally reach the top of the cliff, they are sweaty and exhausted. Kara approaches them.] Kara:[oblivious] "Whoa, you guys don't look so good. What the heck happened?" Lincoln: "Kara, listen--" [Kara stops him immediately.] Kara: "Shhh!" [sniffs] "Do you smell that? Bad guy B.O.!" [She dashes off again, leaving her friends behind, and they groan.]
[Kara crouches behind a bush, but Lincoln and Clyde approach her sternly.] Lincoln: "Kara, we got to talk. It's impossible to work together when you keep leaving us in the dust." [Kara looks annoyed, but she realizes Lincoln is right.] Kara: "Guys, look, I've always been a bit of a lone wolf, and-and it's worked out." [She turns back toward the bush.] "I mean, I did find the thieves' hideout." [She pulls the bush open, revealing the thieves standing outside a cabin.] Clyde: "Whoa!" [One thief burps, and the other glares at him.] Lincoln: "Okay, so we need a plan to get in." Kara: "On it." [She tosses a rock, and it lands away from the cabin. The thieves hear the noise and run off to investigate, leaving it unguarded. Kara dashes out of the bush and runs toward the cabin alone, again annoying Lincoln and Clyde. Kara opens the door and glances around. The boys peek in behind her. The floor is checkered, and on the other side of the room, they can see a TV and gaming console. Next to the console is the flash drive, which sparkles.] "Jackpot!" [She eagerly runs toward it, but the boys are cautious.] Lincoln: "Hey, wait!" [But Kara ignores him as she runs along the checkered floor.] "Hold on! Something doesn't feel right!" [Just then, the inside of the cabin glows pink, and Lincoln stops, realizing the checker square he's standing on is sinking. Kara's ahead, but Lincoln yells to warn her.] "KARA, NO! IT'S A TRAP!" [The rest of the floor around him disappears, and Lincoln is nervous.] Clyde: "Quick, Lincoln! Jump to my square!" [Just as Lincoln's square falls, Lincoln leaps over to Clyde's. But it's another trap, and the floor around them disappears as well. As their square begins to fall, they jump over to Kara. But the three of them look down and get nervous, realizing there's nowhere else for them to jump to. Kara, realizing that all her selfishness led them into this, sighs.] Kara: "You guys were right. It was a trap." Clyde:[notices the wooden floor] "We have to jump!" Lincoln: "It's too far. We'd never make it." Kara:[disappointed in herself] "I'm so sorry for getting us into this mess, guys. It's just, I'm not used to relying on other people. But that's no excuse. I need to work better with others. So, if you guys have any ideas on how to get us out of here, I'm listening." [But the square beneath them begins to shake.] Lincoln and Clyde: "Whoa!" [Lincoln glances down at the abyss, and he gets an idea.] Lincoln: "I have one that just may be wild enough to work. Hands in." [He and Clyde stack hands, then they look at Kara. She smiles, and she stacks her hand in as well.] Clyde: "This idea is wild!" [As the screen pans out, it reveals that Kara is holding onto Clyde as he dangles off the edge of the platform, and Clyde is holding Lincoln. Kara and Clyde are straining.] Kara: "Okay, uh, here we go!" [She lifts Clyde as hard as she can and aims him forward, but Lincoln and Clyde begin swinging and yelling in fear. Kara swings Clyde as hard as she can, and Clyde tosses Lincoln across the gap. Lincoln screams, but he lands on the wooden floor safely.] Lincoln: "I'm alive!" [looks back] "Your turn, Clyde!" [Kara spins Clyde around and tosses him across the gap, and Clyde screams. He charges forward and crashes offscreen.] Clyde:[weakly] "I'm good." [As the platform begins to shake, Kara pants, but she bravely gets ready to jump. She takes a leap of faith toward her friends, but she gasps as she misses the ledge. Lincoln quickly reaches down and grabs her hand.] Lincoln: "Gotcha!" [Kara looks up and sees Lincoln dangling from the ledge.] "Pull us in, Clyde!" [Clyde pulls his friends up, and they all sigh in relief.] Kara:[shakes her head] "Come on, let's get that video game and get the heck out of here." [She begins to run off again, but this time, she stops and looks back at her friends.] "I mean, if you're all good to move on." [The boys dust themselves off and give her a thumbs up.] [Kara grabs the flash drive and gasps, but then the door opens, and a silhouette appears as a goat's bleat is heard. They look back at the door, and the figure is revealed to be ThumbZ.] Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara:[shocked] "ThumbZ?!" Clyde: "You got here just in time!" Kara: "Yeah, we got your game back!" ThumbZ: "Great!" [As he walks over to them, the checkered floor rises again.] "Then my beta test was a success!" Lincoln:[confused] "Your beta test? What are you talking about?" [ThumbZ takes the flash drive and plugs it into the gaming console, and the TV transitions to reveal his game: The Heist.] "The Heist?" [Inside the video game, avatars resembling the thieves break out of a bank and run into their van, and a muscular avatar resembling ThumbZ runs out, angrily shaking its fist after them. Then, the avatar begins performing all the stunts Kara had performed (even dodging an alligator on the river lasso), and reacquiring the flash drive. The TV turns off, leaving Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara stunned.] ThumbZ: "To make the game extra authentic, I needed someone to test it out in the real world." Kara: "So the whole robbery was a fake?! Then who are the thieves?" ThumbZ: "My programmers: The Byte Brothers, Mega and Giga." [The screen pans to them, waving and smiling at the kids.] Kara:[annoyed] "Let me get this straight: You had us chased by a bear, jump a river..." Clyde:[angry] "Climb a dangerous rock wall..." Lincoln:[furious] "And dodge a collapsing floor all so you could test a video game?!" [ThumbZ chuckles nervously, and Lincoln steps beside his friends.] "Well, I think I speak for all of us when I say, that is..." Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara:[excited] "AWESOME!" ThumbZ: "Love that energy! Let's go back to HQ and play The Heist for real! I got snackies!" [He runs off, and Lincoln and Clyde follow him. But Kara stays put, which confuses her friends.] Lincoln: "Aren't you coming?" Kara:[hopefully] "You guys still want to game with me?" [Lincoln and Clyde glance at each other, then they walk back to her and smile.] Lincoln: "Kara, you're a Button Masher now. We stick together no matter what." Kara:[happy] "Cool!"
[Back at ThumbZ Pad, the Button-Mashing Buds are playing The Heist together.] Kara: "Watch out for that oil slick, McBride!" [Clyde's avatar jumps its motorcycle over the oil slick.] Clyde:[gasps] "Good looking out, Kara!" Lincoln: "I need some hydration to get us over the finish line!" Kara: "I got ya, Lincoln!" [She grabs a squirt gun and shoots a stream of water into his mouth. The level finishes, and they all cheer together.] Lincoln, Clyde, and Kara: "Yeah!" Announcer:"LEVEL COMPLETE!"[They all cheer.] ThumbZ:[amazed] "Wow! You guys beat that level faster than I did!" Lincoln: "Button-Mashing Buds strike again!" [The three of them jump on the couch, butt bumping.] ThumbZ: "Hey! I wanna be a Button-Mashing Bud too!" [He joins in on the butt pounding, and the four of them stop in midair. The "ThumbZ Stream" title card closes in on the scene, ending the episode.]
