Ucumu is the main antagonist of The Casagrandes Movie. He is the Purépecha God of the Underworld.

History[]

Background[]

800 years ago, the demigoddess Punguari, in her desire to become a full-fledged god, decided to defy her parents, Sisiki and Chipiri, and steal an artifact called the Mask of Many Faces, which has the power to transform her into a god. Unbeknownst to her, during her transformation, her actions inadvertently cause the Earth below her to start cracking, allowing Ucumu to surface. When Sisiki noticed that Ucumu was about to strike her daughter from the back, she proceeded to petrify her daughter into a small mountain for her safety, while she and Chipiri worked together by using their powers combined to make a flaming chancla, and use it to banish Ucumu back to the underworld, but also resulting in the two to become imprisoned in gems housed in Ucumu's headpiece.

The Casagrandes Movie[]

800 years later, the Casagrande family decided to spend Ronnie Anne's 12th birthday by taking a trip to Mexico. During their stay, Ronnie Anne, after defying her mother, Maria, decided to skateboard down the mountain Punguari transformed into. However, a necklace she bought earlier causes Punguari to wake up from her petrified state (as it contained a gem that was part of the Mask of Many Faces). Punguari disguises herself as a 12-year-old girl named Shara, and manages to convince Ronnie Anne to help her find the Mask of Many Faces. After finding the mask in a concealed artifact room at a museum, Punguari reveals her true form, and proceeds to trap Ronnie Anne, heartbroken over the fact that her new best friend was a liar that just used her, in the artifact room.

With the Mask of Many Faces, Punguari transforms herself into a god, and uses her new powers to create her own palace so she can party, causing the ocean to recede and the Earth to start cracking. Meanwhile, after being freed by Maria, her grandmother Rosa, and great-grandmother Lupe, Ronnie Anne discovers a scroll that tells the story of Punguari, where she discovers that due to Punguari's reckless actions, she inadvertently unleashes Ucumu into the world, prompting her to state that they have to warn her.

Arriving to Punguari's palace, Ronnie Anne reveals to Punguari that her story is all wrong: at first, she thought her petrification by Sisiki was out of punishment, but in reality, it was to protect her, as her actions caused Ucumu to rise and start attacking everyone. Upon learning the truth, Punguari becomes filled with guilt, as her parents sacrificed themselves for her. At that moment, Ucumu rises from the cracks in the ground, ready to cause mayhem. Banding together, Ronnie Anne, Punguari, and the Casagrandes work on trying to defeat Ucumu. Remembering that Ucumu was defeating with a giant flaming chancla, Maria, Rosa and Lupe go and get the stone chancla at the top of the town, Ronnie Anne and Punguari work to keep Ucumu distracted, while the other try to find the sacred flame to light the chancla.

During their fight with Ucumu, Punguari discovers that the two gemstones on Ucumu's headpiece contain her parents. However, this revelation causes Punguari to become distracted, allowing Ucumu to strike her and Ronnie Anne. As Ucumu is about to suck up Punguari so he can trap her alongside her parents, the Casagrandes manage to launch the giant chancla at Ucumu's face, causing the skin on his body to burn off, revealing his skeletal structure. Now in a weakened state, Ronnie Anne uses Punguari's magic staff to disintegrate Ucumu, reducing his body to ashes that fall into the very cracks he emerged from. Afterwards, Punguari proceeds to use her magic to destroy her temple, to which she uses the pieces to seal the cracks permanently, ensuring that Ucumu will never rise again.

Personality[]

As god of the underworld, Ucumu holds nothing back in terms of causing mayhem and destruction. He sees everything as a threat and does whatever he can to eradicate it, either by himself or by summoning monstrous henchmen to deal with threats he's a long distance from.

He also appears to be somewhat self-conscious about his looks, as he freaked out when the flames on his body were extinguished, revealing his skeletal structure.

Appearance[]

Ucumu is an enormous god with a red and black humanoid figure. He has large lower fangs on his mouth, glowing orange eyes, and he has a perpetual flame burning on his head. His arms are very muscular and glow with orange fire. His feet have four claws for toes, with three pointing forward and the other in the back.

For attire, he wears a large crown embedded with a skull and the gemstones entrapping Chipiri and Sisiki's physical forms, shoulder protectors with spikes on the bottom, round kneepads, short armor on his lower body with a tassel on the front, and large gold wristbands on his wrists and neck.

After having his flesh burns down, Ucumu is shown as a humanoid skeleton with yellow eyes and tiny pupils. He retains the gold bands on his wrists and neck, and the green tassel on his lower body.

Trivia[]

  • Being the God of the Underworld, Ucumu is quite possibly the most powerful and darkest villain in the entirety of The Loud House franchise.
  • He is the largest character shown in the franchise in terms of size.
