[The episode starts with Rita driving Leni, Luna, and Luan to high school with Lily in a booster seat.] Rita: "So, how's everything at school, girls?" [no response] "Anything fun or interesting going on lately?" [The girls respond with nothing] Mr. Coconuts: "Got nothing, lady." [Rita sighs. Vanzilla pulls up to Royal Woods High School] Rita:[points to her cheek] "And don't forget to plant a kiss right here on the way out." [No one does. The high-schoolers leave] "That's gonna be you someday, Lily. Getting older and more distant from your dear old mom..." [tears up] "The girls barely let me into their lives anymore..." [Lily makes smooching noises, offering to kiss Rita] "Aw, do you wanna give me a kiss?" [Lily plants a big kiss on Rita, leaving saliva on her.] "You know what? I'll take it."
[At the Royal Woods Gazette, Rita heads to her desk when a Venus flytrap eats her papers.] Gary: "Aw, sorry, Rita. I let my Venus flytrap use your desk." Rita: "I'm sorry, do you work here?" Gary: "It's me, Gary! I've been undercover the last six months for that series I'm writing on the dangerous and seedy underworld of gardening." Rita: "Oh, wow! I didn't even recognize you! Nice work on that piece, by the way." Gary: "Thanks. Going undercover is a great way to get people to open up. When they don't know who you are, they'll really let you into their lives." Rita: "Let you into their lives, huh? Thanks, Gary." [leaves] [Gary prepares to eat his sandwich, but instead yelps as soon as the Venus flytrap eats it]
[Rita arrives at the editor's office] Rita: "Jesse, I have a great story idea!" Jesse: "Whoa, stop the presses. It's Rita Loud and she's excited!" Rita: "Picture this. I go undercover at Royal Woods High for a hard-hitting story on teen life." Jesse: "I can see the headlines now. Teen Scene: What's It Mean? This could be big, Rita. Let's do it!" Rita: "Whoo-hoo! Thanks, Jesse." [leaves]
[Vanzilla pulls up to Royal Woods High School. Rita comes out disguised as a high schooler and takes selfies while blowing gum.] Lynn Sr.: "Uh, hon, don't you think you should get to class? You don't wanna be late on your first day undercover." Rita: "Just a sec. I'm building a social media presence." [takes another selfie] "It'll be so cray if I don't have one. Speaking of which, can you go to SwiftyPic and drop a heart emoji on my latest post?" Lynn Sr.: "You lost me at 'cray.' Well, Brita, have a nice day." [drives off] Rita: "It's Brita."
[The bell rings. Rita arrives at the cafeteria, spots Leni sitting alone and taking a selfie, and approaches her daughter.] Rita:[disguised voice] "Hey, girl, hey. Name's Brita. I'm new here, and I don't know anyone." [makes puppy-dog eyes] Leni: "OMGosh. I'm Leni Loud, and you should totally sit with me. It must be so hard being the new girl." [offers a seat] Rita: "Aw. You're so sweet, Leni." [takes the seat] Leni:[spots Luna] "Oh! Luna! Come here for a sec!" [to Rita] "That's my sister." Rita: "Oh, really?" [laughs nervously] Leni:[Luna approaches the table] "Meet Brita. She's new here." Luna: "Luna Loud. Pleasure to meet your most epic acquaintance." [does her secret handshake, Rita copies it] "Whoa. No one's ever nailed my handshake on the first try." Rita:[nervously] "Oh, um. We do it in Hawaii, where I just moved from, yesterday. Aloha." [Honking is heard. Rita and her daughters look to see Luan doing tricks on a unicycle.] Luna: "Hey, Luan!" [to Rita] "She's our sister." [to Luan] "This is Brita, dude." Luan: "Hey there, Brita. Nice to meat ya." [hands Rita her corn dog, much to Rita's disgust] Rita: "Ew!" [As she wipes her hand, Luan laughs at her prank and then gets off her unicycle, which crashes into someone else] Luan: "I'm on the hunt for an unsuspecting soul to whoopee cushion." Rita:[normal voice] "Luan, no!" [realizes; Brita voice] "I mean, whoopee cushion? That's a little wack." Luan: "Hm. You're right." [throws the whoopee cushion, which hits a student off-screen] "Food fight it is!" [Luan throws the corndog, but it hits the same student who got hit by the whoopee cushion.] Student:[angry] "That's it, Luan! Food fight!" [Luan grabs Rita and ducks as a food fight commences. Leni and Luna put up a table as a shield, and Luan hides herself and Rita from the onslaught of food.] Rita:[normal voice] "Luan, you're in big-" Luan: "Good call on the food fight, Brita." Rita:[Brita voice] "Aw."
[At the library, Rita is painting Leni's fingernails.] Leni: "So, I got some goss, and spoiler alert: it's about me." Rita: "Ooh, girl! I'm all ears!" Leni: "See that guy over there? I totally have a crush on him. He's got such a cute cowlick. Oh, but, like, keep that to yourself, 'cause I haven't told anyone yet. Uh, Brita?" [Rita has been going overboard with the nail painting.] Rita: "Oh!" [She sheepishly chuckles.]
[Rita and Luna are rocking out, but Luna is troubled.] Rita: "Something on your mind, dude?" Luna: "I can't concentrate! My girlfriend Sam and I got in a tiff over a riff, and now she's miffed! I don't know what to do." Rita: "Tell me everything."
[Luan and Rita are hiding under a bush.] Rita: "Luan, are you gonna tell me why you brought me into this bush?" Luan: "I wanted to cut you in on a little secret prank I'm cooking up." Rita: "Wait, you want to do a prank with me, and not on me?" Luan:[covers Rita's mouth] "Shh. It's time." [They both rise out of the bush.] Rita: "Who are we nailing?" Luan: "Principal Rivers." [Principal Rivers gets in her car, and Luan presses a button that sets off a paint bomb. Luan howls with laughter, while Rita cringes at the inevitable backlash from Principal Rivers. Luan stops laughing as soon as she sees Rita's unexpected reaction and looks at her confused.] Rita:[notices] "Pranks, yay!"
[At the Loud House, Rita returns while Lynn Sr. is cooking.] Rita: "Well, I can officially say that this has been a rousing success." Lynn Sr.: "You've got your story?" Rita:[Scoffs] "I wrote the story in 40 minutes during a study period." Lynn Sr.: "Oh, so you don't have to go back again. Oh, that's so great." Rita: "Oh. Oh, no, I'm still going back. Lynn, when I am Brita, the girls open up to me! For the first time in years, I feel close to them, and I'm not ready to give that up yet!" Lynn Sr.: "Uh... I don't know, Rita. I feel like you're playing with fire." Rita: "Don't worry. I'm being very cautious. I even got Brita her own cell phone." [The phone rings, it's Leni calling. She picks up] "Shh. It's Leni." [Brita voice] "Go for Brita." Leni:[enters the kitchen, her voice echoes from Brita's phone] "Hey, girl, hey!" Rita:[normal voice] "Oh, hey, Leni!" Leni:[still echoing] "Can't talk, Mom. I'm on with my new friend, Brita. Do you guys hear an echo in here?" Rita and Lynn Sr.: "Nope." [Leni gets ice cream from the fridge and leaves] Rita: "See? Totally under control. What's another day?" Leni:[still on the phone] "Uh, Wednesday? Did I get it right?" [Lynn Sr. has an unamused look at Rita, while she chuckles nervously back at him and starts to sweat.]
[At Burpin' Burger, Rita is once again disguised as Brita and hanging out with her daughters.] Luan: "Ready, set, chug!" [The four chug their drinks; Leni sneezes hers from her nose, and they laugh] Leni: "OMGosh. Normally this would be so embarrassing, but I just feel so comfortable around you, Brita." Luna: "Yeah, it feels like we've known each other forever!" Rita:[Brita voice] "Aw, I feel the same way! Besties!" [takes a group selfie and adds it to her SwiftyPic account] "And posted!" [sips her drink] Leni: "So, Brita, we were talking..." Luan: "We wanted to have you over for dinner tonight!" Rita:[spits her drink at Luan, then realizes her mistake] "Sorry, dinner? At your house, tonight?!" Luna: "That's right, brah, let's roll!"
[Later, Rita, still dressed as Brita, arrives at the Loud House.] Leni: "Welcome to the Loud House." Rita: "Oh, wow." [She hears mud and gasps. The four turn around to find Lana making a mud snow angel.] Leni: "Lana, what are you doing?!" Lana: "Don't freak. I'll have it cleaned up before Mom gets home." [She jumps around in the mud and laughs while Rita glares angrily, until her other daughters notice. She cools down and just watches upset as Lana make a mess]
[Later in the kitchen.] Leni: "Oh, and that's our dad." Lynn Sr.:[Holding a colander full of spaghetti meatballs.] "Hey, girls, I didn't hear you come-" [He turns around, notices Rita is with them in disguise, and screams, flinging his colander upside-down on Rita's wig.] Luan: "Not cool, Dad! This is our friend, Brita!" Leni:[removes the colander] "Oh, sorry, Brita." Luna:[tugs at Rita's wig - while she tries to hold it - and rubs the mess off.] "You got some on your ponytail, dude." [Rita is flung into the fridge] Rita: "I'm OK! It's all good!" [to Lynn Sr.] "Nice to meet you, Mr. Loud." Lynn Sr.:[awkwardly shakes her hand] "So, you're Brita. That's who you are. I mean, who else would you be? Well, this has been great, goodbye." Leni: "Actually, she's staying for dinner." [Quietly] "And stop being so weird." [leaves] Rita:[whispering in her normal voice to her husband] "Get it together, Lynn."
[The Louds are assembled for dinner.] Luan: "...and he was a real fungi." [Charles sees through Rita's disguise, whimpering happily. He hops onto her lap] Leni: "He must really like you. He only does that to my mom." Luna: "Hey, where is Mom, anyway?" Lynn Sr.: "Uh, she's in the garage, yeah, she should be here any minute." Rita:[Brita voice] "I, uh, need to use the bathroom." [She puts Charles on Lisa's lap, rushes to the bathroom, and switches clothes to her normal attire.] Lynn Sr.:[serving spaghetti to Luna] "There you go, Miss Lu-- Argh!" [Rita is dangling from the roof and falls. Lynn Sr. gets frightened and accidentally tosses spaghetti on Lola] Lola:[Threatening] "Gross!" Rita:[normal voice] "Hi, all! Sorry I'm late. I was whittling a life-sized family sculpture." Lola: "That's weird." Luna: "Hmm. She's been in the can for a while; I should go check on her." Rita:[Demanding] "No! Never rush someone's bathroom routine. Better go wash up. BRB." [She rushes back to the bathroom, changes back to Brita, and returns to the table. Unfortunately, in her haste, her wig is not on properly, exposing a bit of her real hair.] Lily:[happily recognizes Rita] "Mama!" Rita: "Shh!" Lily: "Mama, ma-" [Lily is abruptly interrupted by Lynn Sr. putting her apple juice box straw in her mouth. He sheepishly chuckles. Charles jumps on Rita's lap and starts licking her face.] Rita: "Uh, down, Charles!" [Charles snatches her wig] "Charles, no!" [The rest of the kids gasp] Lucy: "Gasp." Rita: "OK, I know this looks bad, but I can explain." Leni: "Wait. Mom, why are you dressed like Brita?" [Lola and Lisa just pout at Leni's reaction. Rita has an embarrassed look on her face.] Luna: "No, Leni. Mom is Brita! You've tricked us! I confided in you about Sam!" Luan:[Annoyed as Lana watches] "I cut you in on my secret prank!" Leni:[Betrayed] "And I told you about my cowlicky crush!" [Lola watches and turns worried] Rita:[Guiltily] "Oh, girls. I just wanted to-" Luan:[Angrily] "We don't wanna hear it! Let's go!" [Luan, Leni and Luna storm off from the table leaving the other kids shocked and concerned.] Rita: "Girls, I-" [sighs]
[Later, Lynn Sr. brings food to Rita, who is at the living room with her laptop.] Lynn Sr.: "I made you tea and duck l'orange. I wasn't sure which would make you feel better." Rita: "Thanks, hon, but I'm doing OK." Lynn Sr.: "I thought you already finished your article." Rita: "Oh, I'm scrapping that version. I think found a new take on it."
[Later at the Royal Woods Gazette.] Rita: "Sorry I'm late, Jesse. I was up all night, but I have the article right here." Jesse: "Hmm. What's this?" Rita: "I know it's not the article you were expecting, but it's the one I needed to write."
[At the Loud House, Luna is listening to music when she notices a newspaper. She picks it up and finds Rita's article. Leni and Luan find the article on separate copies and read it, too, hearing Rita's voice as they read the article.]
"I was supposed to go to Royal Woods High in search of a story on teenage life, but what I really was in search of was connection. As a mom with three high school girls, it's sometimes tough to accept that your kids are growing up. This story gave me an excuse to stay in their lives just a little bit longer, but it wasn't fair to them. What I learned in my time at Royal Woods High was that, as parents, we need to let our kids grow up and become independent, trusting that they'll come to us when they need to." [Later, the three meet up excitedly] Leni, Luna, and Luan: "Did you guys read this?" [Rita enters, they hug her] "Mom!" Rita: "I'm so sorry, girls. I never should have violated your trust." Leni: "We totes get why you did it, and we did have a great time hanging out with you." Luna: "How about we do a hang sesh once a month, just the four of us?" Leni: "We should start right now." Rita: "Really? I'd love that. But let me go freshen up really quick, it's been a crazy day." [Leaves the room and her daughters smile. Suddenly, Luan realizes something and tries to catch her.] Luan: "Mom, no!" [Too late, as a paint bomb explodes. Rita returns with paint all over herself.] Leni, Luna, and Luan: Ugh. Luan: "Sorry. I planned that before I read the article." [Chuckles nervously] Rita:[Shrugs shoulders] "I'm gonna let this one slide."
