October 19, 2019 was the day two new episodes of The Loud House premiered. Those episodes were "Tails of Woe" and "Last Loud on Earth". I love both of these episodes, but the one I had the most fun with was the latter episode. I ended up loving this episode so much, I'm proud to call it my fourth favorite episode of Season 4, just behind "Love Birds", "Community Disservice" and "Washed Up".

I'd usually do these around the initial release date of the episode, but I just couldn't hold it in, I had to explain in extensive detail why this episode means so much to me. With that out of the way, here are my reasons on why "Last Loud on Earth" is a perfect episode and easily one of the series' best.

Last Loud on Earth
  1. The story: This isn't the first time the show did a zombie-themed episode. That happened to be the Season 1 episode "One Flu Over the Loud House", where the idea of a common cold is played up to treat the infected like zombies. I ended up liking that episode because of how it took something so silly, and managed to make it highly entertaining. "Last Loud on Earth", on the other hand, had their story completely go off the walls with it feeling like it's on a much grander scale. Another thing I love about the episode's story is the setup. It was established for the first few minutes of the episode that Lincoln and Clyde were binging a zombie movie marathon, and the fact that the entire marathon took the entire night really instills the mood of the films into their current situation. Before someone asks, I actually knew the twist that the "zombies" were actually Lynn Sr., Howard and Harold all along (I mean, I can tell by their silhouettes), but I refuse to let that get in the way from making the story completely entertaining.
  2. The atmosphere: To me, the atmosphere in the episode is the biggest reason why I love this episode. Aside from the opening, which was full of light colors, everything else was gloomy, gray, and just so dire looking. It really helps the episode set the mood and convey that our heroes are in a completely desolate world. Another reason why the atmosphere in this episode is phenomenal is that the setup for it is genius. It's revealed that there was a terrible storm approaching, and that everyone had to head to the mall for safety. The storm was so terrible, it cut off all the power to the houses, and everyone left in such a rush, they completely wrecked the interiors of their own homes, which adds in the world feeling more abandoned.
  3. The humor: While this may be subjective to some people, I, for one, found this episode to filled with barrels of laughter jokes that still get me every time. Some of the jokes that I keep laughing at are Lynn Sr.'s timestamp of the boys going to bed, Colonel Austin's cheesy one-liners, Lincoln and Clyde's attempts to stop the zombies, Lola taking the microphone from Mayor Davis to tell Lincoln and Clyde to go to the mall, Rita reprimanding Lola, the dumpster hitting the roundabout, Clyde having a tux for his backup clothes, Lincoln and Clyde using juice filled squirt guns to fight the zombies and using hand-to-hand combat, and the revelation that the zombie at Burpin' Burger was actually Flip using the storm commotion to his advantage. I swear, every one of these jokes makes me belt with laughter every time.

So, that's all of the reasons why I just ADORE this episode. While it may not be in my top 10 favorite episodes of all time, it's definitely in my top 20.
