UPDATE: Here is my alternative ending to this episode.

OK, so I know it's not the best idea to revisit divisive episodes, but I do feel the need to publicly express my thoughts on this one. I will keep in mind and respect others' opinions, especially seeing how much hate this one gets. Anyway, let's go!

Personally, why I don't necessarily like the episode, it certainly is not without its redeeming qualities. Let's start with the obvious question: did Lincoln get what he deserved? I'd say yes. He lied to his family and was selfish to them, and took advantage of everything he got because of his dishonesty. Before you say Lynn is to blame for calling Lincoln bad luck in the first place, just look at the dad in the background while she calls Lincoln that, and at the parents' reactions to him offering to join them. They knew he was lying. They never would've done this if Lincoln never took advantage of Lynn's superstition. So, I think making him stay home from the movies was fair punishment; he was taking advantage of the lie he had spread, after all. Kicking him out of the house went way too far, but I did kind of chuckle at the note they left him. Kind of. The last two scenes, I thought, were really funny! When the mom told Lincoln they had sold all his furniture, I loved how she just acted like it was no big deal at all! Just how subtle it sounded made it the funniest joke in the episode to me. It was pretty funny! Lincoln being forced to wear the squirrel suit on the beach was also funny, mainly given the circumstance the entire episode was under! At the same time though, you can't help but feel bad for Lincoln, even though he technically brought most of this on himself. Overall, I don't care for the episode, but I don't hate it either. I think what's most important is that the show wasted no time picking itself back up after releasing such a subpar episode. So, yeah, one bad, even though I don't think the episode really falls into that category, episode, not the end of the world. Especially seeing all the good, sometimes even great, episodes to come since.
